Description
Up for sale is an authentic original UK first pressing (early 1964-1965 production run) of The Beatles - Beatles For Sale on Parlophone PMC 1240 (mono). This is the classic black & yellow Parlophone label edition from the initial UK release on December 4, 1964.
Key identifiers confirming it's a genuine 1964 original (not a later reissue):
- Black label with yellow block "PARLOPHONE" logo and silver print
- Rim text starts with "THE PARLOPHONE CO LTD." and includes "SOLD IN U.K. SUBJECT TO RESALE PRICE CONDITIONS, SEE PRICE LISTS"
- "RECORDING FIRST PUBLISHED 1964" present on labels
- Full original publishing credits (Northern Songs Mus. NCB for Lennon-McCartney tracks, Jewel Mus. BIEM for "Rock And Roll Music", etc.)
- No later EMI reissue text like "ALL RIGHTS OF THE PRODUCER", "MANUFACTURED IN THE UK BY EMI RECORDS LIMITED", "HIRING AND RENTAL", or "MADE IN ENGLAND"
- Matrices: XEX 503-4N (side 1) / XEX 504-4N (side 2) — these are documented early stampers from the original lacquers (very close to the earliest -3N/-3N first press; -4N variants are common among surviving 1964 originals and pressed shortly after initial batches)
This pressing comes from the same era as the absolute first stampers (-3N/-3N), using the identical label design and production setup. Collectors often group -3N and -4N copies together as true first/original pressings.
