Volume 2 - Singles & EPs [GOTO LISTING] listing QUICK access What you're bidding on Record Data in Detail Photos & Pictures Tracklist Shipping & Handling & Payment COLLECTIBLES PREVIEW Details on Beatles Releases/Numbers & Stampers/Dates upon request at MAIL@BEATLES-COMPLETE.COM And here is what you'll get...
This is a copy of Beatles' "A Hard Day's Night" album, issued by Parlophone in 1964. This record comes in an allover excellent condition.
This copy is not "only" a first pressing, but a special one. It shows all characteristics of those very early presses (see bulleted list below). Vinyl is thicker than usual. K.T. stamp on Label B.
- Label has a chubby printing type (later mono presses as well as stereo-release did NOT)
- Label: name "THE PARLOPHONE CO. LTD..." on the outer rim
- Label: "SOLD IN U.K. ...." remark
- Label: Stamp base number, XEX.481, in brackets, and right below: "RECORDING FIRST PUBLISHED 1964" statement
- Label: This early press label was printed in the "Sans Serif" type. Later pressings type were printed in the "Roman" type.
- Label: K.T. stamp on Side 2.
- Cover remark: Printed and made by Garrod & Lofthouse Ltd. Patents Pending.
- Cover remark: Photo Robert Freeman, Notes by Tony Barrow
Record plays smoothtly; no skips, no pops, or repeats. There's two "blind" marks on the vinyl, but it doesn't affect the sound in any way. Taking everything into consideration, vinyl grades somewhere between VG++ and EX-. Moreover, the disc is made of thick vinyl, and it comes in the original sleeve
"Cracking" the Parlophone Stamper Code- Mono and Stereo: Prefix of Stamper Number
Mono (PMC) label using: XEX (you can see each label and inner groove both side 1 and 2). Stereo (PCS, P-PCS) label using: YEX (you can see each label and inner groove both side 1 and 2). - Lacquer, Mother and Stamper Number
- At the "6 O'clock" position on the inner groove area is the matrix number with a -1 or -2 etc. For instance, Beatles For Sale in stereo is YEX 142-1 (etc.). The "1" means the FIRST LACQUER cut from the master. -2 the second etc.
- At the "9 O'clock" is a number which tell you what "mother" was used to generate the stamper actually used the press the record. A number of "mothers" are generated from the lacquer. Obviously a "1" means first mother generated from the lacquer. A "5" means it was much later--the fifth mother generated from the lacquer.
- At the "3 O'clock" position there will be one to three letters, which are codes associated with numbers as follows, which tell you what stamper was used to press the actual record:
G R A M O P H L T D (Gramophone Ltd.
G=1 R=2 A=3 M=4 O=5 P=6 H=7 L=8 T=9 D=0
Therefore, if the letters say "GR" that is stamper 12. "O" is stamper 5 etc. - Example 1:
YEX 142-1, mother 1, stamper G
is the very first pressing of Beatles For Sale in stereo: first lacquer, first mother, first stamper. - Example 2:
YEX 142-1, mother 4, stamper RLT.
That would be first lacquer, 4th mother and 289th stamper generated from that mother.
If you're serious about "scanning for" Beatles collectibles, this nice item is kind of "must-have" (unless you already own that record).

Payment
How to pay, which currencies to use, what to deduct, to combine, and so on, is perfectly explained in our payment tables, attached to every item description.
However, life is what happens when you're busy making other plans: If you run into a paying-problem after end of auction, please do contact us, do it prior to any action performed by eBay. We always try (and often did) our best to find a suitable solution. Feedback scores on eBay means important reputation, in fact: it's a credit file. Do not ruin your file by hesitating to get in touch with us.
Thank you.
Shipping
Shipping costs posted in our ads include NO INSURANCE. If you'd like to have your item shipped insured, or if you prefer a different shipping service/carrier, please request related charges prior to end of auction. Basically, you should allow a response time of 24 hours.
We offer combined shipping as well as certain discounts on lots and bundles. Please see item description or send an eMail for details.
Please note that we DO NOT ship to US-Embargo-Zones (such as Cuba), to Nigeria, or Sierra Leone.
We reserve the right, too, to refuse shipping to war- or crisis areas.
IMPORTANT NOTE ON SHIPPING TIME
As soon as we drop an LP mailer at the mail office's desk, it is somewhat unpredictable how long the rest of the process will take (and totally out of our hands). Experience so far shows: same delivery took 3 days to Tokyo, seven to NYC, almost three weeks to the Philippines or MidWest United States. Even inside Germany shipping times range from one day to an entire week.
Thus: Beside a handling time of up to three business days, allow one to three weeks shipping.
Please keep all those facts in mind when finally grading our seller-skills.
Terms of Sale
We basically welcome every honest bidder, no matter what high or low her or his current feedback is.
However, there's exceptions to every rule, as they are:
- your member account shows an unpaid item strike during the last 90 days
- your member account has one or more bid retractions on file (mutually withdrawn ratings NOT included)
- you were sending unsolicited mails prior to a current auction
- you keep your feedback score private (transparency and reputation on eBay is a MUST)
Note: Only items listed and photographed are included in the auction. We make every attempt to accurately describe the items being sold. Since all of our auctions are considered personal sales, we DO NOT offer REFUNDS or RETURNS.
Any item on auction (bidding or fixed price) or offered in eBay Shop is S O L D A S I S.
We will not be held responsible for damages caused by transportation for items that were shipped without insurance, since Insurance is always available upon request.
IMPORTANT NOTE ON RARITIES
Records, Collectibles - regarding The Beatles in particular - is a "science" - that a fact every collector will agree with. While every individual might or might not have her or his special field of interest (and knowledge), opinions, evaluations, pricing, grading, and so on, very often strongly differ. If we encounter a record listed by us on eBay (as an auction, fixed price, or store item) being a "fake" - thus: a bootleg, reprint, or any type of "non-original" -, we will include this in our description. In fact, we already did this, for instance, regarding that legendary VeeJay-Introducing.
However, if we do NOT mention a record being a fake, we're convinced of its status as an original.
IF YOU DO NOT AGREE, THEN DO NOT BID ON THE RECORD, OR BUY IT.
Once you placed a bid and/or buy an item, you DO AGREE with our point of view, no matter whether or not you change your mind afterward. Nobody in the collector's world is forced to adhere to an other person's consideration(s). In case of doubts, just contact us prior to auction end to give your "approach" a chance of evaluation.
Thanks for your time.
About Us
We are a German/American couple collecting Beatles records since 1979. As an admirer of rare items, we particularly feel attracted to stuff that is "somewhat" related to the world's greatest band: The Beatles.
We already sold to customers around the globe, satisfied buyers from, for instance, the United States, Canada, Mexico, Japan, the Philippines, United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Italy, Australia, or Germany.
Contact Us
Beside the fact that we always try to describe our items as accurately as we can, providing comprehensive visual documentation as well as plenty of additional information (such as release tables and history), questions and inquiries on items at auction are certainly always welcome.
However, as late experiences have taught us, there are also lots of "spammers" on the way, blocking our bidder's contact account by repeatedly sending unsolicited mail, thus wasting precious time to be better spent on honestly interested buyers' requests.
We no longer respond to "fake mails", but immediately exclude the sender from any of our auctions. If you feel to have been excluded in error, please contact us immediately, subjecting "exclusion".
