This superb UK 1st MONO pressing dates from the album's July 1964 release and is on the black & yellow Parlophone label: PMC 1230

Both labels carry the 'Sold in UK..' text with 'The Parlophone Co..' worded rim texts.

The 'KT' purchase tax code is visible in the centre of the side 2 label.

Disc weight: 147g

Housed in a rare front laminated 'Ernest J. Day' printed mono cover with wide early-style flipback usually found on early covers of 'Please, Please Me' & 'With The Beatles'.

Complete with its original tissue-paper lined 'Use Emitex' inner-sleeve.

This copy was originally purchased at manager Brian Epstein's Liverpool store 'NEMS' and comes with it original clear polythene protective sleeve, given away free with every record purchased there.

Labels: EXCELLENT +

Clean, bright & unblemished with just a touch of wear to each centre hole but little of any significant elsewhere.

Visual: EXCELLENT

Extremely clean and unworn playing surfaces which retain all of their 'as new' deep-gloss shines. There are just one or two light surface scuffs on side 1 from inner-sleeve removal & a single 5mm light, non-feelable mark on track of side 1. However close and careful examination directly beneath my unforgiving halogen desk lamp revels no further blemishes or wear whatsoever. Both sides of this well looked-after disc lie 100% flat on the turntable when playing.

Sound Quality: EXCELLENT +

This great sounding disc has received infrequent careful play on excellent equipment and my single playcheck found no evidence of any groove/play wear distortion - even on the most easily worn inner-most tracks on either side. In fact, apart from a hint of normal/light background between tracks, there is little to fault overall on this highly enjoyable sounding disc.

Cover: EXCELLENT +

This fine example of a hard to find cover variant is clean and strong throughout and displays no significant or major faults. The vibrant front panel is perfectly clean and retains an unscratched and unworn high-gloss laminate with just a small bend towards the lower left corner but no 'thumbnail' wrinkles. The small white spot in the front lower right corner is beneath the laminate. There is a tiny rub to the lower right corner but no wear to any of the others or indeed to either opening edge. The rear panel is extremely clean and free from any marks, writing or missing paper. Happily, all of the delicate flipbacks are in place and the only sign of wear is a tiny nick to the upper one, but there is no writing or missing paper anywhere. Both seams and the spine are all smooth, unstressed and unworn.

Inner-sleeve: EXCELLENT

Clean & crisp with just a few gentle storage wrinkles and no tears, writing or seam splits.
