Welcome to 20th Century Collectables

The Beatles – A Hard Day’s Night – Genuine 1964 UK 1st pressing–with yellow & Black Parlophone rim labels, ‘Recording First Published…’ and with ‘Sold in UK’ Catalogue number PMC 1230

Recording started for a ‘A Hard Day’s Night’ within 48 hours of The Beatles returning from their first US tour, on 24th February 1964.

A seminal album in the evolution of music, for this was the first ever album where the artist wrote and performed all the songs on one album.

An outstanding audiophile copy with very little to no surface noise audible between the gaps. There is no groovewear to any of the music signals or loss of audio quality. Tracks such as ‘If I Fell’ and ‘Things We Said’ have breathtaking audio. A fantastic listening experience of one of the best recorded Beatles albums. The superb acoustic audio and the resonance of the acoustic guitar on ‘And I love Her’ is testament to analogue quality and the beautiful richness of vinyl sound.

Matrix numbers: XEX 481-3N & XEX 482-3N (Please note – 1N was not used on any mono 1st press HDN issue)

Stamper codes: 8/ARR & 8/AAA

Happy Bidding and good luck!

CONDITION

Disc

Visual: EXCELLENT+

Superb looking vinyl with only a single ultra faint non feelable surface mark visible in daylight on each side. The disc has all of its original sheen and can only have been played a few times since new.  On closer inspection under a halogen desklight there are some ultra faint whispy sleeve removal marks. Very difficult to find in this condition.

Audio: nr MINT

An outstanding audiophile copy with very little to no surface noise audible between the gaps. There is no groovewear to any of the music signals or loss of audio quality. Tracks such as ‘If I Fell’ and ‘Things We Said’ have breathtaking audio. A fantastic listening experience of one of the best recorded Beatles albums. The superb acoustic audio and the resonance of the acoustic guitar on ‘And I love Her’ is testament to analogue quality and the beautiful richness of vinyl sound. Needless to say the record does not jump or stick.

Labels: EXCELLENT+

A great set off unworn labels with only a few faint spindle trails. There is no writing to either label.

Cover

VERY GOOD+/EXCELLENT-

An original 1964 Garrod & Lofthouse patents pending cover. A great solid cover with perfect spine. There is some wear to the corners. The front panel is strong and grades at excellent. The flipbacks on the rear panel are strong and all intact. There is however some disclouration and ageing to the back cover but there is no writing. Still a respectable 1st issue cover and tough to get in this condition.

Inner-sleeve Excellent +

Original 1964 rice paper inner.
