Beatles 45 She Loves You 1964 Swan Styrene Pressing Rare WIDEST Bold Font!
I can’t test-play vinyl at the minute, so with that said…
Collectors are aware that there is a font referred to as “Wide Bold Font” for this pressing. But what most collectors aren’t aware of is that there is a label that uses an even wider font than the one we picture.
Pressed by Monarch Records who had their own in-house typeset for 45 labels, this copy uses their spaced-out lettering, which is wider than Swan’s widest. See compere photo.
Audiophiles are aware that styrene pressings deliver a far more dynamic audio range than vinyl does. Styrene is also resistant to surface noise. The downside to styrene is that it’s generally good for a small amount of plays before groove distortion sets in.
Also for sale this week is a Monarch Records’ pressing of the “Ain’t She Sweet” 45, which also uses their widest fontly-printed labels.
Vinyl: VG+/VG+. Both sides retain most of the original shine, however; there are a light to moderate amount of very light scratches per side. Still a very nice-looking piece of plastic!
Plates: All three dead wax markings are present on both sides, which are found on genuine copies: The machine-stamped “MR” in a circle, which is Monarch Records’ insignia, the hand-etched delta that precedes the catalogue number, and the “Reco-Art” machine stamp, which was from the Swan plant.
Labels: EX/EX. Nearly new-looking labels.
Sleeve: Black paper sleeve is provided. Not original to the 45.
Note: All 45’s ship outside of their sleeves in order not to damage the sleeve during shipment. Generic plain, white sleeves and Mylar provided.
As these records have been in storage for many years, they will play back with crackling and tics, however; a good moisturizing and cleaning with either D4 Discwasher or a VPI machine always clears them up. Thanks!)
