Beatles 45 Ringo Starr Beaucoups of Blues SCARCE Black Star Side 1 AND Capitol Logo Side 2!
I can’t test-play vinyl at the minute, so with that said…
One of Ringo’s hardest collectables! Side 1 label has the black star. Side 2 label has the small perimeter print with the Capitol logo. To my knowledge, this is the ONLY Apple title to have been issued with this configuration ever.
(By the way, I’ve always held that had Ringo had more confidence in his songwriting abilities, he should have issued “Coochy-Coochy” as the A-Side, and he would have easily cracked the Top 40. What a fun song!
“Coochy-Coochy” would have been the perfect crossover hit. If it resembles country music at all, it sounds like a cross between great rock and roll and a hard porch music jam session. If you’ve never listened to this great track, do yourself a favor and head over to YouTube. It’ll pull you in by your ears, starting with that amazing bass intro that pops harmonics all over the place, with Ringo come pounding in. You’ll love it.)
Vinyl: NM/VG+. Side 1 looks nearly unplayed. Side 2 has some very light scratches that aren’t feelable with the fingertip. They just look slightly unsightly.
Plates: Z10/Z9. Machine-stamped asterisk in the dead wax makes this copy pressed in Los Angeles.
Labels: NM/EX. Side 1 label looks brand new. Side 2 label has a manufacturer’s scratch. See photo.
Sleeve: VG+. Just some minimal wear. And that includes the label serration outdent. NO SPLIT SEAMS.
Note: All 45’s ship outside of their sleeves in order not to damage the sleeve during shipment. Generic plain, white sleeves and Mylar provided.
**As a collector since 1975, I have seen more copies of Ringo’s “Back Off, Boogaloo” blue label 45 than I’ve seen of this one. In fact, this is the only copy I’ve ever seen.
If your collector thinks they have everything, check their collection for this gem. It might be the perfect Christmas present if you don’t see it.**
As these records have been in storage for many years, they will play back with crackling and tics, however; a good moisturizing and cleaning with either D4 Discwasher or a VPI machine always clears them up. Thanks!)
Please don’t bid unless you’re willing to honor your amount, okay? Thanks!
(Please note: Regarding play-testing, my Technics turntable has somehow seized. The tone arm is stuck in the up position, and I can’t get it to fully return to its cradle. Is there anyone out there, who can tell me if this is an easy fix? Thanks!)
