I can’t test-play vinyl at the minute, so with that said…

Another misleadingly rare label variation.  When this single was released in February, 1967, the B-side’s running time was listed in error as 3:00.  That was actually the running time for the promo, which had an extra 3 seconds of trumpet, as collectors know.  Those copies are all over the place.  In fact, most copies of this single on the yellow/orange swirl from both Scranton and LA will have the 3:00 running time.

However, fairly late in 1967, that running time was corrected to its proper one, which is 2:57.  For some reason, Scranton corrections are more easily found, although that doesn’t mean they’re common.  I’ve never been able to find a clean Los Angeles copy with the corrected time.  I’d venture to say that when I’m lucky enough to see one, which is rare, it always has writing on one or both labels, always has scratches and always is not up to collector’s standards.  These are usually AFU.

This copy is not NM.  But it sure is pretty.

Vinyl: VG++/VG++. Just a few too many very light marks that can’t be felt with the fingertip to keep it from an EX grade.  But far too strong for a VG+ grade.

Plates: F1/F1.  Machine-stamped asterisk in the dead wax makes this copy pressed in Los Angeles.

Labels: NM/NM.  Both labels look nearly brand new.

Sleeve: EX.  This is the far scarcer Los Angeles sleeve with the very wide thumb tab.  These thumb tabs were eliminated in favor of the smaller thumb tabs that your Capitol sleeves with this graphic has.  NO SEAM SPLITS.

**Note:  All 45’s ship outside of their sleeves in order not to damage the sleeve during shipment. Generic plain, white sleeves and Mylar provided.**

As these records have been in storage for many years, they will play back with crackling and tics, however; a good moisturizing and cleaning with either D4 Discwasher or a VPI machine always clears them up.  Thanks!)
