Beatles 45 Get Back 1969 Super Rare Billy Presto/Billy Prestor Credits, NM/EX!
There are a handful of collectors who are aware that there is a very rare bona-fide error pressing of the Scranton in-house Apple labels that has misspelled Billy Preston’s name on the A-side as “Billy Presto.” Not very many of these have surfaced to date. By far, most of these in-house Scranton labels have correctly spelled Billy’s surname on both sides. (See compere photos.)
This copy has the additional error on the B-side, where the “N” in “Preston” only half-printed, looking like “Prestor.”
It’s the only one I’ve ever seen. Such a cool item with both names incomplete, and with the distinct possibility that there isn’t another of these out there.
I can’t test-play vinyl at the minute, so with that said…
Vinyl: NM/EX. Side 1 looks store stock brand new. Side 2 looks almost the same, with a small, isolated patch of hairline scratches.
Plates: W3/B4. Machine-stamped triangle with the letters, “IAM” inside it makes this copy pressed by Scranton.
Labels: NM/EX. Light dirtwear on the Side 2 label.
Sleeve: VG. Nice “The Beatles on Apple” with Scranton’s wide straight-cut top sleeve has light wrinkles, and not many. A couple of finger divots. A light amount of label serration impressions. Some white wear on the edges. A 1 ½-inch split on one side seam.
**After 51 years of collecting, I’m confident in saying that there’s likely not another one like this out there.**
**Note: All 45’s ship outside of their sleeves in order not to damage the sleeve during shipment. Generic plain, white sleeves and Mylar provided.**
As these records have been in storage for many years, they will play back with crackling and tics, however; a good moisturizing and cleaning with either D4 Discwasher or a VPI machine always clears them up. Thanks!)
Please don’t bid unless you’re willing to honor your amount, okay? Thanks!
(Please note: Regarding play-testing, my Technics turntable has somehow seized. The tone arm is stuck in the up position, and I can’t get it to fully return to its cradle. Is there anyone out there, who can tell me if this is an easy fix? Thanks!)
