Beatles 45 George Harrison 1975 This Guitar FAR SCARCER Jacksonville SEALED!

I can’t test-play vinyl at the minute, so with that said…

In the early 80’s, while managing a Sound Odyssey record store, the Scranton plant had decided to liquidate its inventory.  We ordered half a truckload of boxes of records on the Apple label.  We were lucky enough to get one box of 25 of George’s single, “This Guitar (Can’t Keep from Crying).”  Of the 25 copies in that box, there was just ONE copy from the Jacksonville plant, based on the dark color of the record label.  The rest were Los Angeles pressings.

Since that time, I have been on the lookout for another Jacksonville copy, and in 40 years, I have seen two.  Both were just about VG+.

As collectors know, this title was the last 45 issued in the U.S. on the Apple label.  It was probably an apropos choice for a label that had suffered such contention and bankruptcy.  If The Beatles’ last album, “Let It Be” was reviewed by Rolling Stone as “a cardboard epitaph,” this final release for the label was the last nail in the coffin.  It instantly became a collector’s item upon release on Dec. 8, 1975, when sales were so low that the record became the first and only Apple 45 from an ex-Beatle that failed to chart at all.

This copy is still sealed.

Sleeve:  VG+.  Some light wear, not bad.

Vinyl: Probably NM.

Labels: Definitely NM.

Plates: Unknown, but judging by the dark Apple labels, this is the rare Jacksonville copy.  (Please see the compere photo of the Los Angeles copy I also took from that box, which is also still sealed.)

As these records have been in storage for many years, they will play back with crackling and tics, however; a good moisturizing and cleaning with either D4 Discwasher or a VPI machine always clears them up.  Thanks!)

Note:  All 45’s ship outside of their sleeves in order not to damage the sleeve during shipment. Generic plain, white sleeves and Mylar provided.

(Please note:  Regarding play-testing, my Technics turntable has somehow seized.  The tone arm is stuck in the up position, and I can’t get it to fully return to its cradle.  Is there anyone out there, who can tell me if this is an easy fix?  Thanks!)
