The Beatles - "Yesterday" and Today 1st State...ish Stereo Butcher Cover
This auction is for a relatively unusual item, so please make sure you fully understand exactly what it is before making a bid or offer.
In essence, this auction is for an original 1st state stereo butcher cover slick. The slick was at one point loose (its exact origins are unknown), however, it has since been pasted over another “Yesterday and Today” RIAA #6 stereo album cover by the original owner. In some sense, it’s the exact opposite of a 2nd state butcher cover. The slick is 100% authentic and has no glue marks, etc. that would be characteristic of a peeled cover.
This holiday season, are you looking to get that special someone one of the ultimate in Beatles collectibles--almost--but lack the $30,000+ that the Livingston copies sell for? Or, maybe you just want to be able to brag to your buddies that you own a, quote, original 1st state stereo butcher cover, unquote. If so, this auction has your name written all over it.
CONDITION
Slick: UNGRADED
The slick has three large creases as well as a 2 1/2” tear in the upper left (and some grease staining) as well as a section missing in the upper right. There’s also some additional damage—please use the pictures to your best judgment.Sleeve: UNGRADED
The sleeve itself is in pretty rough shape with numerous splits. It also does not come with disk or inner sleeve. The highlight here is the 1st state slick, which, ignoring all the cosmetic issues, does not have the typical glue stain damage associated with peeled, 3rd state slicks.Please feel free to send a message requesting more pictures or if you have questions.
