Description
After selling most of my LP collection, I am now selling a few that I have left which are mostly Beatles related.
All my LPs will have been played at least once and some of them several times. They have however been properly looked after and stored over the years and I am only listing LPs which play to a high quality. Each LP has been played in full prior to listing so my assessment is of the whole record, not just a few samples. My assessments of the quality of the vinyl, sound reproduction and sleeve are based on the widely accepted Record Collector definitions.
This mono copy of the Beatles' classic 1967 LP "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" is a UK pressing on the Parlophone label - catalogue number PMC 7027, matrix numbers XEX 637-1 and XEX 638-1. It is a first pressing as shown by the "The Parlophone Co. ...." text around the rim of the label and the "Sold in U.K. ..." text across the centre of the label.
This album has, not surprisingly, been played quite a lot. Nevertheless, it is still is in very good condition and all the tracks play perfectly and clearly with no jumps or skips and only minor levels of crackle or other surface noise. The vinyl has several superficial surface marks, but nothing out of the ordinary for an LP of this age and, having played it right through, nothing which seems to affect the quality of playback.
The laminated gatefold sleeve is also in very good condition with just minor scuffing on the edges and corners and some creasing in the top left hand corner. The lettering on the spine is only partially clear because of a bit of scuffing and general grime!
The album comes with its original cardboard insert, but for reasons lost in the mists of time it doesn't have its original red and white sleeve, just a plain one.
