Description
I grade strictly by the Goldmine standard. You will never see me claim to have psychic knowledge of how many times a record has been played, and you will almost never see me grade a record NM. It is very rare for a record to be NM, a NM record should have no visible imperfections, that is the standard we should all be using.
Cover: VG
You can clearly see Ringo’s telltale collar beneath the pasted on trunk scene. The cover has some light wear and discoloration, and there is a spot on the front right and corresponding back left where it looks like someone pinched it when they were opening the shrink, but as you can see from the pictures (please examine them closely), it looks great, and there has been no attempt to peel it.
The spine and top seams are intact. However, there is a 3 inch seam split on the bottom. This is the main reason why I am grading this VG.
Many other sellers would call this cover VG+, but a strict reading of the Goldmine standard states that a VG+ cover can only have a seam split if it is less than one inch long and located at the bottom, the most vulnerable location. Mine is at the bottom, too, but it exceeds one inch.
As you can see from the pictures, the original inner sleeve is present.
Vinyl: VG-
Examined carefully under bright, direct light, the vinyl has a medium amount of scratches, especially on Side 2, and if I were grading only visually I would call it VG. But a play test on my system (Audio Technica LP120, tracking force and anti-skate set to 2) results in more surface noise than a literal reading of a Goldmine VG. It’s still a great listen, but there are parts where groove wear is audible.
