This landmark single marks the Beach Boys' debut on Capitol Records, effectively launching the "California Sound" into the global mainstream. "Surfin' Safari" peaked at number 14 on the Billboard Hot 100, while the B-side, "409," became one of the most iconic "hot rod" songs of all time. The tracks were recorded at Western Recorders in Hollywood and produced by Nick Venet. The cover features the original lineup—Brian, Dennis, and Carl Wilson, along with Mike Love and Al Jardine—posing with a surfboard on a truck, a photo that has since become an essential piece of rock history.
