In Hawthorne, California in 1961, Brian, Dennis and Carl Wilson formed a band with their cousin Mike Love and friend Al Jardine. They began as "Kenny and the Cadets", "Carl and the Passions" and then "The Pendletones" In short, their father, Murry Wilson, through his publisher, Hite Morgan (owner of Guild Music) made contact with Joe Saraceno of Candix Records (X Records) who played demo tapes for Ross Regan of Buckeye Record Distributors. He's the one who came up with "Beach Boys" and in December of 1961 'Surfin' was released on X Records as a promo for the band. This 'promo' record turned into a hit and was #75 on Bilboard in Feb 1962. There were about 50,000 of these sold and here is one.

This is in great condition and has been in my possesion since the day of release and still has the '19' file sticker from my (ancient) filing system. It is in a white envelope and I have no idea if it was the original or not, but probably is. It looks as if it would play a nice clean song, but I don't have a working phonograph to try & I'm not so sure I would trust myself anyway.
