Bach St Matthews Passion Klemperer UK Columbia SAX 2446
Fischer-Dieskau, Pears, Schwarzkopf and a host of talent with the Philharmonia Orchestra and Chorus conducted by Otto Klemperer in this classic performance of the Bach, St. Matthews Passion. A 5 record (9 sides) set, this is an English stereo pressing on the Columbia label (SAXS 2446 / SAX 2557-2450), the labels are green with silver border and “radio waves”. The records are of excellent appearance and play and sound superb with a minimum of surface noise. All inner bags, tissue paper, cardboard and massive libretto are present. The right-hand corners of the box are split; otherwise there is minor wear only.
