Description
Columbia Set SL-161. Unusual estate sale find. When was the last time you saw this for sale? Very rare, stated limited edition box set, 420/1000, dates from early 1950s. 10 LPs (labeled Vols. 1-10) in red slip-cover case. Gold Columbia labels that state "Limited First Edition" (this also appears in the lead-out area of each LP) The case is in Good overall condition with some edge wear, especially on the bottom (see photos, seam split at bottom of spine, easily repairable). Record condition: all the jackets are in nice shape, no seam splits or excessive surface wear; I would say all the jackets are in about the same condition, VG overall. Record condition: Vol 1 (ML-4345) I would rate Good, there are some fingerprints and signs of minor surface wear but no spindle trails. Should clean up well. The other volumes are in remarkably similar condition, and could be unplayed. No spindle marks or any obvious signs of wear. Even the amount of dust is low given the age of these LPs, and the fact they did not come in inner sleeves. This box sat undisturbed for many decades, in my estimation. The last Canfield guide lists this at $300. I will start the bidding at $50. Offered by a long-time ARSC member. Sold-as is due to age, low non-reserve starting price, and $4 US shipping, item is not returnable. I will ship this overseas, but the shipping charge will be $50, via FedEx economy.
