Background

Over the next 12-18 months I'll be selling off a massive collection of records (5000+) from a shop that closed it's doors in the early 1980s. The collection covers a period from the late 1960's through to the time of the shop's closure and includes large quantities of 60's/70's rock, progressive and modern classical music. Most of the items are unplayed (or at most have sustained a single play) unless otherwise noted. You don't get many opportunities to purchase unplayed 70's stock any more! This short paragraph of background information is included whenever an item has been sourced from this collection.

UNSOLD SHOP STOCK ULTRA RARE SEALED(!) Johann Sebastian Bach 'Cembalokonzerte' (Harpsichord Concertos) performed by Karl Richter (Catalogue Reference: Deutsche Grammophon Archiv Produktion STEREO 2722 009). This is a German pressing with a cloth/textile-covered box and I'd guess it dates from the early 1970s (actual manufacture date is not obvious from the limited information available to me without actually opening the box). In comparison to the SEALED Wagner set I'm also selling this week the cellophane here is very loose and there are a number of large holes (please see the image above). I'll admit that it would be relatively easy to slide the cellophane off however, I have absolutely no doubt whatsoever that this is NEW and UNPLAYED because all the sealed classical boxsets I've been selling were stored in a couple of boxes (i.e. they were kept together). The cellophane has obviously been loose for sometime on the bottom and top right-hand and bottom left-hand corners because these edges have got slightly grubby. I note dirt and limited wear to these corners but otherwise this is pretty immaculate as you'd expect for something which is largely still protected by cellophane. I cannot make out any further damage, marking etc. (this is particularly surprising when you consider that these classical box sets are susceptible to collapsing when stored under pressure for extended periods). This box has clearly been stored properly as it is still perfectly flat and very solid. The box really looks as good as NEW (which it should do!). Truely astonishing to find a set of this vintage still sealed! Take this opportunity!

Concluding Remarks

This is so RARE! I cannot see that you're going to get many chances to buy a NEW copy of this item. Save me as a favourite seller as there is plenty more where this came from!

NOTE: Postage costs will be confirmed once the auction has ended (and as such the cost listed above is speculative). If the final price should be more than £45.00 then I will expect the buyer to cover insurance costs. Example costs to Europe for a package of this nature with insurance up to £80.00 would be in the region of £20.00. I'm happy to investigate actual postage costs in advance of the auction's end.

I have been a collector for in excess of 15 years and would describe my grading as conservative (I think my feedback speaks for itself in this respect(!)).
