This is (LITERALLY) a twice-in-a-lifetime find, and something we believe VERY few Byrds collectors have EVER seen. Just to give you an idea how rare this original pressing of the Byrds first album is: In 30+ years of collecting records, we have seen exactly three (3) copies of this pressing – and you are looking at one of those three copies, right here and now.
During this same period of three decades, we must have seen at least 20 copies of the Beatles’ “Butcher Cover”; at least five copies of the `Johnny Burnette Rock’n’Roll trio` and at least 10 copies of James Brown’s (in)famous “Legs Cover” album (Please, please, please), which are some of the rarest, most collectible items in the hobby. So, draw your own conclusion…
As for the album itself: from the opening chord, to the closing twang, this is one chockful of ear candies that never stops to amaze and inspire. A contribution of late, great Gene Clark to this album is truly monumental. This is a genuinely fantastic listening experience. This copy is an original 1965 US Columbia pressing of this album. A feast for the ears, if we ever had one!!!

· CONDITION:
· RECORD
(IMPORTANT NOTE: unless otherwise noted, ALL records are graded visually, and NOT play-graded!; we grade records under the strong, diffuse room light or discrete sunlight)
(a) WE GRADE THE VINYL AS STRONG VG+(+), just a notch below NEAR MINT. A few light abrasions (probably just sleeve scuffs inflicted in storage over the years) ARE VISIBLE, but they appear fairly insignificant relative to the overall condition of the vinyl, and are only moderately visually distracting. For most part, the vinyl looks impeccable, without any MAJOR visual flaws or imperfections. Much of the original luster is intact, and the vinyl shines and sparkles almost like new.
(b) The record is STILL in its original inner, perforated plastic baggy, which has - apparently with success - shielded the record from the harmful impact of elements over many years!
(c) The record is pressed on a beautiful, thick, inflexible vinyl, which was usually used for the first or very early pressings. Usually, the sound on such thick vinyl pressings is full-bodied, vivid, and even dramatic. Do not expect to obtain such a majestic analog sound from a digital recording!
(d) Of course, this is a full-bodied ANALOG recording, and not an inferior, digital recording!!!
· COVER
COVER IS STRONG NEAR MINT, STILL IN ITS ORIGINAL ►SHRINK WRAP (small piece of shrink wrap is missing)
The following flaws or imperfections are noted on the cover:
- Cover has some tiny, faint, barely visible writing on its back side (date 9-4-65 written next to the opening side)
- Cover shows JUST A HINT of yellowing on back side, apparently from aging.
NO OTHER IMPERFECTIONS ON THE COVER:
- No split seams
- No ring wear
- No cut-out (drill) holes.
- No cut-out corners
- No saw-marks or indents
- No dirt/dust rubbing stains (friction marks caused by rubbing against other covers)
- No wrinkles or creases
- No stamps
- No tearing: no chips, dents or nicks on the seams
- No peel-off marks
- No stains
- No mold or mildew spots
- No stickers or labels
- No water damage
- No razor marks, scratches, pressure marks, lines, streaks, or cuts.
- No warping
- No wax, glue, paint or liquid drops on the cover
- No bar codes
- No RIAA stamps or stickers.
