Budgie : Bandolier 1st Press A2 / B1 1st Press 1975

This is another very collectable first pressing on the MCA 'Rainbow' label that I am selling and it also plays to a 'high end' standard with no interference.  The clarity and definition of the audio is outstanding and again qualifies as a FINAL UPGRADE first press.

The cover is in excellent condition with only minor wear and the original inner is also in great shape.  It also includes an original black and white promo advert (30 x 21cms) with the album artwork. 

A Porky Prime Cut and Pecko are etched into the run out grooves and this of course related to George Peckham, the famous 'record/cutting engineer'.  Known as the best in the business (Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Genesis) his 'work' is always very collectable in its own right.

This is another Budgie vinyl that has been so well looked after down the years.  It has a lovely glossy sheen and there is not too much spindle wear either.  There are no marks or scratches and only a couple of hairlines on either side.  There is a slightly more obvious one on S2 but it has no affect on the stunning audio.  The run out grooves and 'Rainbow' labels are also super clean.

Play grading  

'Breaking All The House Rules' plays superbly from start to finish with no interference of any kind.  The sound is so deep and powerful and it resonates around the room with stunning quality.  As I often say I listen to every track in full (it's a hobby as well as business!) and I can confidently grade this as Mint the clarity and definition could not be any greater.

The quiet intro on 'Slipaway' plays with sublime precision - no interference at all.  As the vocal begins the audio is just as 'clean' and it continues in exactly the same way.  This is not typical Budgie but the clarity on this low key track is stunning and Mint is no exaggeration.  Another indication this vinyl has not been overplayed.

'Who Do You Want For Your Love' also plays beautifully right from the start and this has an even quieter intro!  During this entire opening section there is no 'background' and as the volume increases there is no let up in quality.  With no clicks or pops, static or crackle this is audio of the highest order.  There is perhaps just a minimal amount of inner groove distortion on the vocal but believe me when I say it is very minimal!  It is not intrusive and this track still plays with superb audio and not 'background' on the fade out.  Mint- in my opinion.

'I Can't See My Feelings' on S2 plays with great quality from the first groove to the last.  There is just a hint of mega light static during the first quiet section but it is hardly worth a mention as it is so quiet!  From then on it plays 'as new' with incredible definition and power.  I am still happy to grade this as Mint- the audio is 'high end' to say the least.  A stunning version.

It is difficult not to repeat myself but 'I Ain't No Mountain' is of the same immaculate standard.  Mint from beginning to end.

The quiet intro on 'Napoleon Bona-Part One' just has to be heard to be believed!  The clarity is as 'clean' as could be I've never heard anything like it!  There is not even a dust tick and don't forget this quiet opening section is easily over two minutes long!  As the tempo increases the audio is still so impressive and again...no interference at all.  It plays loud and true and has no distortion.  The segue into 'Napoleon Bona-Part Two' has only the bare minimum of light static and then plays as well as it's predecessor.  Perhaps just a minor touch of inner groove distortion but certainly not intrusive and you can turn it up to 'loud' without having to turn it down immediately!  A Mint- end to the album.

In summary this is another FINAL UPGRADE first pressing I am happy to say.  The previous owner certainly knew how to look after his records!  The clarity and depth of the audio on both sides could not be any better and for an album of this age to have no clicks or pops is a rarity indeed.  A stunning album.

The Cover

The cover is in lovely condition with minimal shelf wear only.  The edges have very little rubbing and the thin spine has only a small number of rubs and remains 100% legible.  The corners are very clean with only the right hand ones having just a little more wear and the opening edge has hardly any handling wear.  The front cover is in superb shape with no marking and the colours remain strong and vivid.  As is common it just has a few small faint creases next to the spine and the back cover is the same with a little ringwear also.  An excellent example overall.

Inner Sleeve & Promo Advert

The original 'Important Notice' inner has no side splits or tears, no marking and hardly any creasing.  It could hardly be any better!

The rare promo has only a couple of minor corner creases and a small number of faint age 'spots'.  It is made with thick paper.

The Labels

The MCA 'rainbow' labels are in superb order with marking or writing and only a little spindle wear.

Play tested on my Pro-Ject Essential III Turntable / B&W 684 Speakers
