SIDE 1 (WORDS OF LOVE)
Looks at best VG but mostly sounds VG+ except for only a couple a light pops you really have to be listening for.
SIDE 2 (MILKMAN, BRING ME NO MORE BLUES)
This side has a scratch that runs the length of the song so to check for defects I have just played it on all 4 of my record players. On 3 out of the 4 players it played with no skipping or repeating. On the 4th player (which has a more sensitive arm setting) it lost just 1 word to a popping sound I assume due to the scratch. Otherwise it played a very enjoyable VG.
GOLDMINE on promos- "What makes promos special? They are far more likely to have been mastered from the actual master mix-down tape, rather then a several generations removed copy, thus making them of higher sonic quality than later editions. They are among the first to come off the presses- after all, promos get sent out before stock copies. Sometimes they are specially mastered to sound better over the air or through the store's loudspeakers. "
My 2001 Goldmine price guide lists non promo (stock) copies of this 45 at $150 in VG condition. It then states that Promos for this 45 are worth 2-4 times as much.
