Warps: Assume all records I offer have no warping of any significance and all tracking is easy and effortless and should play on all turntables and even ‘budget’ decks.

Weight of this Record: 120 grams. A typical weight for this one.

Country of Manufacture: England.

Rarity: Scarce: this album was issued in 1973 in the pre-Fleetwood Mac days and it was simply ignored and flopped, it appeared even Polydor themselves had little confidence or interest in this record. The surprising fact is, it was eventually reissued in 1981 when both artists were firmly established in the massive rejuvenation of Fleetwood Mac, appearing on their self titled classic ‘White Album’, Rumours and Tusk et al. Again it failed to sell well which is remarkable considering it sounded very much the same as the aforementioned albums – who could not like this album if they liked the in Fleetwood Mac? This copy hardly played and with little short of pristine sound, those few who did buy it played it, myself very much included. I have always loved this album which as yet, not been issued legally on CD. ‘Lost’ and under-appreciated albums are not always worthy of such a fate, and this very much a case-in-point. It is a wonderful set.

Brief Artist & Album Info: Lindsey Buckingham and the beautiful Stephanie Nicks, both relative unknowns when this self-titled album was issued back in 1973. Selling a mere handful of copies initially and faring little better when reissued after they had become household names, when now established in the great Fleetwood Mac revival. One could possibly understand the failure of this record first time round or if it was a poor album, but nothing could be further from the truth. This record is superb, and sounds very similar this very successful AOR period Fleetwood Mac era, no fan could ever be disappointed with it. It even features the original Nicks song, ‘Crystal’, later covered by her future employers. I remember buying this title some time after the self-titled ‘White Album’ by Fleetwood Mac, of course discovering them like the few others that bothered via that classic issue. I did not know it even existed for a while and then I had to order it, as it was not a stock item – all pretty amazing really. This one includes the promotional front cover sticker in superb condition, but even this failed to get much attention. If you have yet to discover the delights of this overlooked gem, a better example will prove very difficult to find. The cover has little to fault, the record immaculate with sound the same, and even thin paper lyric/graphic insert sheet as made.

Cover Grade and Format: EXCELLENT(+): a single unlaminated format with matt smooth surfaces. Printed and made in England with no credits with the original round promotional sticker as seen in close-up. Includes the original lyric insert sheet.

Cover Front: A couple of light tone marks on the left edge apart, this front looks superb. Yet another from the same lot I have just listed and appearing hardly played. A few fine edge hairline creases are near impossible to avoid totally and just one away from the sides that with normal viewing hardly shows. Clean, fresh and attractive, the promotional sticker is Mint immaculate as can be seen on my close-up picture.

Cover Back: The back even better with little to fault, the lack of ringwear each side always a plus on a cover more often seen with it.

Top Edge: A tiny central rub trace, little else, also very straight.

Bottom Edge: Very light and minor rub traces, this being the storage edge and still impressive.

Right Edge(s), and Type: Crisp and mostly very sharp with barely any burring or thickening at all. This guaranteed untrimmed or enhanced in any way, the record enters on this edge.

Spine and Text: Solid, straight with just one small compression. All text is unworn as is practically the entire spine surface.

Corners: Any tiny tip rubs register little and all retain excellent (or better) shape.

Cover Summary: A lovely example giving few hints of age or vulnerability. I rarely, if ever seen the sticker better and this should please most collectors.

The Inner Sleeve: EXCELLENT: and arguably better, only marked down a little for darkening of the seam areas. A Polydor lined inner that has minimal real wear at all. Both window circles crisp and undamaged and the lining solid, barely any creasing and all edges unsplit with no repairs.

The Lyric Insert: EXCELLENT(++): practically as made and hardly aged. No creasing worthy of mention, tears and still clean, this guaranteed original and printed on both sides on gently textured, quality paper.

Vinyl Condition/Visual Grading: EXCELLENT(++): and even this does not do this superb record full justice. Even under bright angled light, any surface traces are ultra faint, merely whispy types only finer than hairlines. A top example with lovely shine and appearing barely even played. Again, it should please most collectors.

Album Played For Grading: Yes. [I play ALL records I offer before submitting to Ebay, also the record is played in its entirety unless clearly stated otherwise. I do NOT play snippets or joining grooves to check for sound quality and quietness – I play from the beginning to end via clinically revealing B&W speakers that include the legendary tweeter from their awesome Nautilus range that reveals every blemish or miniscule sound present on any record.]

Sound Quality and Audio Grading: This very impressive record plays even above it’s high visual grading with nothing to fault. Strong, distortion-free sound, all frequencies are sharp and clear - sound quality is very high with a wide dynamic range and very detailed sound – this has master tape quality and audiophile reproduction. Any surface sounds barely even registered and no pops or clicks were noted, and few copies will match or better this. A copy that time forgot, it’s probably not seen daylight for decades. Nothing spoilt my pleasure when play-grading this fantastic record that is beautifully recorded and produced. Surely only the lack of initial promotion stopped this selling better? This will prove beyond difficult indeed to find better and merits my strongest recommendation for sound and content.

End Piece: Great guitar work from an American ‘master’ and excellent vocals and songs from both. Ever since I heard Nicks sing ‘Rhianon’ on the classic ‘White Album, I was addicted, this lady has a unique voice and she has always been a special artist for me. If any collector needs this still quite elusive title, you will be hard-pressed ever find a much better example. Even today, still undervalued, this is pretty scarce. Pre-Fleetwood Mac, Buckingham and Nicks exuded ‘class’ from day one – don’t lose this truly top copy.

Now one of the most established sellers on Ebay and still offering the finest and most accurately described and graded records I can find. The record’s cover will be placed within a BRAND NEW soft protective sleeve and the actual record will be professionally cleaned on my new VPI-17 Pro vacuum system to give ultimate clean grooves and playing surfaces and the best possible looks and ultimate sound quality. You will NOT get tired, dull looking, dust infested records inside worn and foggy covers with tatty inners from this seller and that’s a promise and guarantee. All records are posted in professional boxes (NOT Mailers, these do not offer any real protection). The record(s) are REMOVED from their main cover to avoid edge splits and placed within a brand new polylined inner. The record’s original inner will be included if available. The boxes are then reinforced with at least TWO, ULTRA THICK stiffeners for maximum extra protection – these are FOUR TIMES thicker than commercial stiffeners and are custom-made for oneadayrecords. SOME GENERAL GUIDES TO WEAR AND CONDITIONS TO HELP YOU DECIDE

My Use of Description Terminology: Surface Marks = Superficial, usually light marks, hairlines or light scuffs that rarely sound. Scratch = a needle mark that goes below the record’s surface, some will sound, some will not, my play-grade will inform. Original = a record that has been pressed with the first label design which does NOT necessarily mean a very first pressed record. First Pressing = A record that I believe or know to be a genuine very first pressed record. I do not claim to always know for sure, and that’s why I state the stamper and matrix numbers if at all possible, for those who claim to know what they all mean, the information is there for the collector to decide. I prefer to use terms like ‘Early Copy’ rather than ‘First Pressing’ if I am not totally sure. Surface Sound = Mild, light sound, usually light crackle or similar. Distortion = Break up of the actual sound caused by groove wear or damage from a chipped stylus – the most undesirable form of unwanted sound, vintage mono records were the most prone to this happening but not exclusively so. The symptoms of distortion are high frequency clipping, moderate constant crackle or an echo type sound quality. Violin, piano and vocals are most prone to groove-wear distortion. Feathering = Fraying or softening of the entry edge of a cover. Covers with feathered entrance edges are more likely to have had the actual record inserted and removed more than a non-feathered, sharp-edged cover which are always far more attractive. Set Off, actually a printer’s term for dark ink leaving mild residue on pale or white ink when rested upon. e.g. when a gatefold cover has black ink closed against white, this can leave some black residue on the pale area – this is mostly unavoidable or course.

The Argument for Vinyl Original sound and mix (mono mixes are rarely available on CD), high quality sound on clean copies (played on a hi-end dedicated analogue system – breathtaking sound!), beautiful, large format covers, artwork, inserts and even full size posters etc; huge investment potential, and the pleasure of owning ‘the real thing’.
