Description

This Play:Back AS 45 is a rare 1973 U.S. promotional 7" vinyl sampler released by Ampex/Columbia Records, featuring Andy Pratt and Bruce Springsteen. It was issued as a promo-only single with the catalog number AS 45 and played at 33 ⅓ RPM. The A-side features Springsteen's early version of "Blinded by the Light", while the B-side features Pratt's "Avenging Annie", which later became a minor hit, peaking at #78 on the Billboard Hot 100. 
This release is notable for pairing two emerging artists of the early 1970s rock scene. Pratt had recently signed with Columbia Records under Clive Davis, and Springsteen was promoting his debut album Greetings from Asbury Park, N.J., released in January 1973. The Play:Back sampler served as a promotional tool for Columbia’s new talent, making it a sought-after collector's item today.
