With a track record that includes being part of Loch Lomond and working with Efterklang, it's little wonder that Peter Broderick has an innate gift for classical composition imbued with American folk tradition. Float was originally released on Type in 2008, and now enjoys a full remastering and repressing for Erased Tapes distinct enough to add the 2013 suffix to the title. It's a mesmerizing record inhabited by the arresting viola and cello playing of Amanda Lawrence, which calls out in a space of considered atmospherics and instrumentation that rumbles somewhere below. It's a fine chance to catch a sumptuous record of musical might fully rendered to play on all its strengths.
