Description
This is an excellent copy of Brinsley Schwarz 1970 self titled album with textured gatefold sleeve and *rare* loose lyrics insert
Just seen this sell on Ebay a few days ago for £60 without the insert. Try finding another one this good at a better price!British 1969–1974 pub rock band evolved from Kippington Lodge with Nick Lowe on base and vocals. Named after the band's guitarist Brinsley Schwarz. Two band songs in particular have a role in rock history. The song "Cruel to be kind" was recorded in the sessions for the bands final 1974 The New Favourites Of Brinsley Schwarz album but never made it to the record. Instead it was released on Nick Lowe's first solo album and in 1979 Lowe re-recorded Cruel To Be Kind and made it a major solo hit. Another song from the sessions - "(What's So Funny 'Bout) Peace, Love And Understanding / Ever Since You're Gone" - did make it to the album and later became a hit for Elvis Costello. Brinsley Schwarz and Bob Andrews joined Graham Parker & the Rumour, which functioned as a unit through 1981. Billy Rankin joined Terraplane and then Big Jim Sullivan's Tiger. Nick Lowe and Ian Gomm both began solo careers, achieving moderate mainstream success.
