The Brian May Band : Live At The Brixton Academy (2LP)

This 1994 double LP plays with superb Mint audio and I would say has never been played before.  Stunning glossy vinyls with no spindle wear.  The gatefold is in excellent shape but with a little wear on the top edges.

Visual grading

The vinyls have a glorious mirror like glossy sheen and have no hairlines, scratches or marks of any kind.  They are visually stunning to say the least.  They do have a minor warp each over one small area but is only a gentle 'lift' and does not affect the amazing quality of the audio.  The run out grooves are also beautifully clean.

Play grading  

S1 has no lead in static and then plays with immaculate audio throughout.  'Driven By You' and 'Tie Your Mother Down' in particular play with stunning power and a superb strong bass sound.  S2 has audio of the same exacting standard.  There is no interference at all, not one single click or pop and not even a solitary dust tick!  For 'Love Of Life' to play with such incredible clarity is a rarity, it is Mint without question.  'Too Much Love Will Kill You' is another impeccable highlight.  This is sound quality of the highest quality.  Wow! 

S3 does not disappoint either and plays to near perfection.  There are a small number of mega light dust ticks during the 'Guitar Extravangance', about 5 or 6 but they are barely audible.  The remainder of the side 'rocks out' in superb fashion and the loud section of 'Bohemian Rhapsody' is a classic example of this.  S4 again plays 'as new' and ends the album in superlative style.  With no interference again this is audio heaven!  'Now I'm Here', 'Hammer To Fall' and 'We Will Rock You' all play loud and without distortion.  Absolutely 100% stunning!

In summary this final upgrade archive audio could not be improved upon.  The vinyls look 'as new' and play in the same way.  A shame about the wear on the top of the gatefold but this is the only negative.  Approaching 25 years old it is becoming increasingly difficult to find this reasonably rare double LP at a 'sensible' price.

The Gatefold

The gatefold is very clean but as can be seen a small repair has been made on both of the top edges.  They are only 5cm in length and whilst the cover is obviously not perfect the rest of it remains in great order.  There is only a minimal amount of rubbing on the visible edges and the wide spine is in superb condition.  The corners have only a bare minimum of wear.  The front and back covers are extremely clean with no marking and the inside of the gatefold is in immaculate condition.  The opening edges have no handling wear also.  

Inner sleeves

The glossy inners are in perfect condition with no splits, creasing or marking.  I have never seen better.

The labels

They have no spindle wear as stated and no writing either.  S4 has a small black line leading out from the spindle hole but you will often find that, it is caused during the manufacture.

Play tested on my Pro-Ject Essential III Turntable / B&W 684 Speakers

The records have been professionally cleaned on a Pro-Ject VC-S machine
