Description
WESTMINSTER CATHEDRAL CHOIR directed by COLIN MAWBY; with the Westminster String Ensemble and Simon Lindley, Organ
This recording is unique for four reasons; firstly, it was the first LP of the choir under Colin Mawby; secondly, the recording was sponsored by the Viscount Furness and the 'Furness Record' label created for this one off recording from that label; thirdly, the LP was pressed in a Limited Edition and comes with its Certificate of Authenticity and fourthly, it is signed by Colin Mawby himself. Not many Privately pressed LPs have such a provenance
As one would expect, the singing from the choir is superlative and the addition of string accompaniment on some of the items only adds to the beauty of the performance.
A particularly rare and collectable LP with works by Mozart, Gounod, Nanini, Victoria, Franck, Mawby, Palestrina
