Description

Here again is the great BERT WILLIAMS, in 1913, performing two seldom-heard original songs:  "BORROW FROM ME" and "ON THE RIGHT ROAD." The master of comic timing and dry wit, Bert makes his points most pointedly!

Bert has a unique way of saying "no" that strings a hopeful borrower along for three minutes! Hear him responding, most drolly, in the second chorus of "Borrow From Me":

If you bring me the stone that David slew Goliath with

And from the apple Adam ate, bring me the core –

Bring me a leaf from the very same tree

That the dove carried that branch back to Brother Noah;

Bring me that lion that let Daniel live

And the whale that swallowed Jonah in the sea - -

If you bring me everything that I’m asking you to bring,

Oh Boy! – Then you can borrow from me!

Then he SINGS the repeat, and you suddenly realize you're in the presence of the ultimate master of the copacetic, long before Louis Armstrong, or anyone else on record.

I never get tired of promoting Bert Williams! Every minute spent listening to him is repaid in GOLD!

This original - and rather scarce! - 1913 "Big Notes" Columbia A1354 is in clean E- condition.

These records come from my private collection, which I have been accumulating since 1967, and now am downsizing!  My highest priority in these eBay auctions is to give you the best possible idea of a record’s true condition and aesthetic value.  I always post at least four clear images, showing the record fore and aft, a close-up of the label, and the whole disc, warts and all.  If my purple prose won’t cut it, the pictures will!  Shipping is done with expert care. Your record will brave Media Mail in a stout corregated box, between four sheets of cardboard and a couple of “packers.”  I hope you are amused by these descriptions, and by the quality of service being offered.
