Excerpt from “Tomorrow Is Today: Australia in the psychedelic era, 1966-1970” (Iain McIntyre):
Okay, we’re really pushing it to be labelling this ‘psychedelic’, but “Hey, Hey, Hey” is just such a groovy, non-stop piece of exuberant beat music that it’s impossible to ignore it. The final single ever on the iconic Go!! label, “Hey, Hey, Hey” – by well-seasoned discotheque band The Bobby James Syndicate – has it all, from dive-bombing fuzz guitars, throbbing bass and shrill organ lines to imaginative tempo changes and Gregorian chant-inspired vocals.
