BOBBY HUTCHERSON “Dialogue” RVG, DG, P, Blue Note 84198 Stereo Vinyl
This is the 1965, first edition, Deep Groove, “Van Gelder” stamped, “P”-pressing of BOBBY HUTCHERSON’s “Dialogue” on the "New York NY USA” labels of Blue Note BST 84198. Musicians include Bobby Hutcherson, Sam Rivers, Freddie Hubbard, Andrew Hill, Richard Davis, Joe Chambers.
VINYL plays with low level surface noise (i.e, crackle, static, ?? or ????,relative to the volume of the music/instruments), with occasional pops and ticks. Ensemble sections are clear, dynamic and strong with clean transients, powerful extension and full tone. NO distortion. NO skips. Side 2 slightly noisier than Side 1. As with all first pressing Blue Notes, the brilliantly performed and pressed music overcomes surface imperfections. Excellent gloss. Many hairline marks, none feelable. The Deep Groove (one side) "New York USA” labels are clean with spindle wear. See photos.
COVER is in good condition, corners worn. Tear at bottom seam of cover. Top seam clean with cracking, 1” split. Spine faded but without splits or cracking. Bottom seam shows cracking, split repair, 3” split. See photos. “BLUE NOTE RECORDS, INC., 43 West 61st St., New York 23” back jacket shows wear, some staining. Please see photos.
This LP was play-tested on a high-end audio system. RECORD CLEANED ON VPI 16.5 VINYL CLEANER.
