Description

Up for auction is this rare original stereo US pressing on MGM, complete with near mint lyric sheet, of the obscure psychedelic classic Rainbow, by little known artist Bobby Callender. I can't tell you much about this other than it is an interesting, eclectic, eccentric album that pioneers a progressive use of instruments for '68. Exotic/ ethnic vibes are added by Colin Walcott (later known for his work on the ECM label) on Sitar, Tabla & percussion, Donald Robertson on Sitar, Tabla & Tamboura, as well. Otherwise there's some excellent Jazz session players like Richard Davis, Hugh McCracken, Eric Gale and "The Hitmaster" Bernard Purdie on Drums. In addition you get lush orchestration, arranged by Paul Harris, so all in all a deep rich soundscape with Psych Folk Jazz & Spoken Word elements. The cover has ring and shelf wear to the edges but is solidly intact, with a cutout hole bottom left corner, grades as VG+. The Lyric Sheet has the cutout hole and a very faint yellowing near edges, otherwise perfect, the labels and vinyl are EX. Please check my other listings, I will happily combine postage on multiple items and ship worldwide, Europe is £5, the US £7, please contact me for any further info. I expect payment within 7 days of auction ending.
