A finer voice than that of Bobby "Blue" Bland would be very difficult to find in all of Rhythm & Blues. This refined, infinitely delicate, but at the same time robust and masculine voice, continues to be - some 50 years from the inception of his career - one of the most precise instruments in modern American music. In the 50’s and 60’s Bobby Bland outsold any other black artist with the possible exception of James Brown. He was, to put it mildly, the engine behind the modern soul movement. His mid-60’s hits were masterpieces of simple elegance, with vocalizing so stylish and classy one could suffer a complete emotional meltdown just listening to his voice.. The songs are: Ain’t nothing you can do - If I hadn’t called you back - Today - Steal away - After it’s too late - I’m gonna cry - Loneliness hurts - When you put me down - If you could read my mind - Reconsider - Black Night - Blind Man. This, last , song, puts Little Milton’s original version - a strong, passionate song in its own right - to shame. And, mind you, if you have only heard Grateful Dead’s or Van Morrison’s version of ‘Turn on your love light’, his signature tune, it is now time to hear the real thing. (a)          WE GRADE THE VINYL AS EXCELLENT. This is one of those albums that are somewhat difficult to grade. It is somewhere between VG++ and NEAR MINT, just a notch below NEAR MINT. A few light abrasions ARE visible, but they are extremely shallow, superficial and only moderately visually distracting (nothing significant).For the most part, the vinyl looks impeccable without any MAJOR visual flaws or imperfections. Much of the original luster is intact, and the vinyl shines and sparkles almost like new.

(b)          Stereo copies of this album are NOT known to exist.

(c)           Of course, this is a full-bodied ANALOG recording, and not an inferior, digital recording!!!

THE COVER IS ABOUT VERY GOOD+ (VG+)

The following flaws or imperfections are noted on the cover:

-         Cover has a small peel-off mark, probably from the careless removal of the price sticker (delicately camouflaged with the like-colored [blue] marker.

-         A few small dusty spots / stains noted on front cover (nothing significant)

-         Cover has some visible fraying/tattering on the top seam

-         Cover has a few tiny wrinkles along the spine

-         Cover has some light ring wear (nothing significant); On the scale from 1 to 10 (1 being the least, and 10 being the most severe), we assess the severity of ring wear as 4 (front side) and 2 (back side)

-         The cover has a few tiny scratch marks on the front side (nothing significant)

-         Cover shows JUST A HINT of yellowing on back side, apparently from aging.

-         Cover has one corner slightly worn / frayed / bent (just a beginning of the split seam)

NO OTHER IMPERFECTIONS ON THE COVER:

-         No cut-out (drill) holes.

-         No cut-out corners

-         No saw-marks or indents

-         No dirt/dust rubbing stains (friction marks caused by rubbing against other covers)

-         No writing

-         No stamps

-         No wax, glue, paint or liquid drops on the cover

-         No bar codes

-         No RIAA stamps or stickers.
