Judith Purdy was in the Toronto band Bobby and Synthia before moving to London. The band’s "BIG TITS" was one of the first music videos to be banned by MuchMusic.
Purdy studied art at Bealart and Fanshawe College. ”I remember buying my first copy of Mad Magazine at the local variety store and reading it until the pages fell out.
“It was as if the writers and artists in Mad had read my mind. I was amazed and reassured by the fact that I wasn’t the only person to see the world the way I did. There were other people — grownups! — who mocked cultural stereotypes, scoffed at hypocrisy and scorned convention,” Purdy writes in Graphic Underground about growing up in Point Edward.
Among her contributions as part of the London ’zine scene was the City Lights Comix series.
Off-stage, she is Lambert’s partner.
As you might guess from the name, Bobby and Synthia were a duo and the music is synth based. They were from Toronto, Ontario and released this 12" EP in 1982. The song "Video Violence" was also on one of the various Flexipop compilations "None Night Of Flexipop Vol. 2". You can also find it on a couple of compilations here.
