RARE silkscreened Jamaican first pressing of the Bob Marley & The Wailers` compilation album "The Best Of Bob Marley & The Wailers" on Coxsone Records (1974). Please note that a number of variations of these silkscreened originals are in circulation, all dating from 1974.
As close as it gets to perfection apart from a sealed record, this copy comes to you straight from old store stock. The record has been in storage for over 40 years. It is practically perfect.
BEFORE BIDDING, A NOTE OF CAUTION: This is an new, unplayed record, issued in Jamaica in 1974. However, due to the circumstances under which these historical recordings were made (1964/1965), these are not high-fidelity recordings by any definition: The recordings have a consistent background crackle, a consequence of the often substandard quality vinyl at the disposable of small labels such as Coxsone in Jamaica.
These recordings are much sought after not for their audio excellence, but rather for their historical relevance as Bob Marley & The Wailers` very earliest studio recordings. Please do not expect high-end audio quality from these over 50-year-old Jamaican tapes. If however you are looking for a MINT(-) copy of a highly sought-after musicological relic, then look no further!
GRADING:
MINT(-) COVER in practically perfect condition. Please see photos for details.
- Original textured Jamaican silkscreen sleeve.
- Small area of glue residue on front cover (at bottom right). Other than that, perfect.
MINT(-) RECORD, unplayed and straight from old store stock.
- Unplayed vinyl on both sides, with impeccable audio reproduction throughout.
- The record has consistent crackle which is not caused by previous play. Rather, this is a result of the quality of vinyl available in mid-seventies Jamaica!
- Five tiny, pin-prick sized "nicks" in the vinyl (in "I Am Going Home") were obviously caused during production or packaging. They are inaudible.
- A few tiny, non-sounding dings in the vinyl are a result of the production process.
- No hairlines, scuffs or any other visible signs of previous play at all!
- Original first-pressing off-white Coxsone Records labels with no spindle wear whatsoever.
- The record has no visible matrix stamps in the run-off grooves.
- This record is certified to be a Jamaican first pressing of "The Best Of Bob Marley & The Wailers", released in 1974.
PLEASE NOTE: Not to be compared with the more-often-than-not substandard vinyl on offer on eBay, this item is in honestly-graded MINT(-) condition. For more information on the veracity and reliability of my grading, I kindly refer the prospective buyer to my feedback comments and seller rating.
