BOB DYLAN

“PLANET WAVES”

MEGARARE original Asylum Records very first STEREO press released, made and distributed in 1975 in Chile by Asociación Fonográfica Nacional “ASFONA” M.R. (ASFONA Records), catalog number 7E-1003, with hand etched matrix numbers 7E-1003-A in Side 1 and 7-E-1003-B EB-C in Side 2, with blue/black Asylum Records labels. It’s interesting to notice that in both sides in the deadwax is written the exact day of pressing: “29-5-75” (May 29th of 1975), the same date of pressing of Chilean Emerson, Lake and Palmer’s “Tarkus” (!). Yes, Sirs, ANOTHER FIND from Chile!!!

“PLANET WAVES” was originally released in January 1974 and we had to wait until May 1975 to see this record released here in Chile, as part of the ASFONA Records collection called “SERIE ESPECIAL DE LUJO” (Deluxe Special Serie). The cover in Chile is made with two pieces of thin cardboard, with front cover pasted on the flips of back cover. Front and back covers keep strictly the original artwork with all text in English only, with the only differences that in Chile it’s the ASFONA Records logo at top right corner in front cover and in back cover it’s written “SERIE ESPECIAL DE LUJO” at top right corner and the text “Editado Y Distribuido por “ASFONA” M.R. Santiago De Chile – Fono 83877” at the bottom edge. Yes, Sirs, here it’s the original issue of Bob Dylan’s “Planet Waves” released in Chile, a record rarely seen!!! ANOTHER FIND from this side of the world!!!

The cover was already described and it’s in great VG or VG+ condition, clean and complete, with some wear in the edges and corners, some creases and little rips, with a very light ring mark, a blemish in the mouth edge caused for humidity, a little tear at top rig corner of front cover and some tape some past owner put in the edges, some of them to cover rips but mostly to protect the cover and avoid seam splits and they have worked because all the edges are solid. The record is in superb EX or EX+ condition both sides, glossy and clean, with only some minimal scuffs and light hairlines, hard to see at first sight, which don’t affect play at all, except for a tiny scratch in the beginning of the song number 4 of Side 2. Labels on both sides are in stunning NM or NM+ condition, absolutely clean and clear, no marks, no writings at all, only with very minimal spindle hole wear. The sound is in strong EX or EX+ condition both sides, loud, clear and clean, virtually no background noise (surface noise is normal in records from Chile), only some light crackles here and there, more evident in the silent parts between the songs, and some clicks in the beginning of “Never Say Goddbye” caused by the tiny scratch already informed, which of course don’t cause any major distraction from the great sound this record keeps from the beginning to the end. Overall, a great record with a cover in still a more than decent and respectable shape and a record with still a nice glossy look, almost immaculate labels and still amazing sound quality after 42 years, which won’t disappoint anyone!!! WOW!!! A MUST TO HAVE for all lovers, fans and collectors of Bob Dylan, a record rarely seen, another MEGARARE PRESS of a famous and classic rock album released here in Chile!!! WOW!!! Click on the pictures to enlarge and see the cover and labels in detail.

Bid with confidence and don’t wait until the last second because you could lose the chance to get a real collectable record from Chile (South America) in superb condition like this copy is. You know South American records aren’t easy to get in good conditions, so HAPPY BIDDING and don’t let this record to go away… you could never see a so good copy of this record again… if you are lucky enough to see even another copy again…

Thanks for watching and bidding, good luck and best regards from Chile

_________________________________________________________

We don’t use the generic “VG” most of South American sellers use to hide poor quality conditions or “NM” or “Mint” for records which aren’t even clean and sound less than a normal “VG” in professional standards. We use the Record Collector’s Grading System with a little modification: we don’t use MINT grade but for Sealed records and we can use a + or – to show a most professional accurate description.

MINT (M): I only use this grade for Sealed records.

NEAR MINT (NM): The record itself is in like new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality (only some very very very light hairlines caused for the record rubbing the sleeve). The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in like perfect condition.

EXCELLENT (EX): The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality, maybe some surface marks which doesn’t affect play. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

VERY GOOD (VG): The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD (G): The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.

FAIR (F): The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump.
The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.

POOR (P): The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.

BAD (B): The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.

FEEDBACK

We don’t have anything to hide and we know the buyers expect to receive feedback after to pay for the items they win. Most of sellers say to give feedback when buyers leave feedback first. But we know that’s not fair for buyers. So, we leave feedback immediately after to receive the payment, because we understand that’s the part that buyers must receive feedback for. And we expect to receive a positive feedback from buyers who receive the records immediately after they have got the records.
