Description

 BOB DYLAN

AN ODDITY.

7" ONE SIDED, SUPER HEAVYWEIGHT VINYL.
'I BELIEVE IN YOU'  handwritten on 'Audiodisc' white label.
'Capitol magnetics, Winchester, VA  USA' label.
THE PLAIN WHITE SLEEVE HAS ' DO NOT ISSUE' STAMPED ON IT.

The track is a live recording of  ' I BELIEVE IN YOU' but its origin is unknown .  Very good sound.

The vinyl itself crackles at the start, but is fine all the way through, just a few pops and crackles. NO skips or jumps.

I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT THIS IS, BUT I GUESS, IT'S A RECORDING FROM 1980 THAT WAS TO BE ISSUED AS A LIVE TRACK AT SOME POINT BY CBS.

Mint (M) The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.


Near Mint (nrM) The record looks brand new with no scuffing or any deterioration in sound quality and only the smallest hint that its ever been played. The cover and any additional extras are clean, crisp and with no wear whatsoever.


Excellent (EX) ( +/- ) The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.


Very Good (VG) (+/-) The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

The record will be well packaged in a proper record mailer with stiffeners.

 FURTHER RESEARCH HAS INDICATED THAT IT MAY BE A MASTER FROM THE STUDIO. DYLAN & CBS WERE APPARENTLY RECORDING SOME LIVE SHOWS WITH A VIEW TO RELEASING AN ALBUM OF HIS GOSPEL SHOWS.

THE LABEL AND SMALL STAMP (SEE PIC3) ARE ALL CONSISTANT WITH THIS BEING GENUINE.

 Having played it through, I can say that it is SO LOUD my speakers were bouncing off the floor. It's also a fantastic vocal, and the band are great, especially the Hammond swirling organ.  It is NOT the MASSEY HALL TORONTO, ONTARIO, CANADA APRIL 20, 1980 version.

 SOME EXPERT INFO FROM THE USA HAS COME TO LIGHT:

"The label on the disk is from the 1970's and 1980's when the Audiodisc intellectual property had been sold to Capitol Magnetics by the original company that produced the Audiodisc brand name of blanks, Audio Devices, Inc.  Apollo Masters in California now owns the Audio Devices intellectual property as well as that of the Transco company.     The only part made by Capitol Magnetics was the disk proper.  The recording would have been made by a studio or mastering house.  Most likely it really is a reference lacquer made years ago, however since lacquers are still made today anyone who is savvy in disk recording could make a nice "reproduction" reference lacquer and no one would really know the difference.  Again, it most likely is a reference since I don't think too many people would bother making fakes as the value is really not that great.  If it had a studio's reference lacquer label and not just a generic lacquer plant label it would be worth more, since it would be much harder to come by a reference label from any of the defunct cutting houses of the day, and a scan would be pretty obvious."
