Description

Item Description:

BOB DYLAN: 'Highway 61 Revisited' LP

Columbia CS-9189 LP, made in US, not dated (1965). Album is play graded.

Record: VG, with a few very light scratches on both sides (none can be felt with a fingernail) and some very light scuffs/needle trails. No warps or skips or other signs of wear. Labels are good, with some light spindle marks.
Cover: VG+, it's in original factory shrink wrap with no apparent ring wear, very light wear on three edges, light discoloration on the opening edge of the front cover, moderate wear on the opening edge of the back cover, two bent/worn corners and a small split (1/4") on the bottom edge at the opening.

This is a copy of Bob Dylan's epic 1965 album 'Highway 61 Revisited'. One of his all-time classics, this excellent album completes Dylan's transformation from revered folk troubadour to electric Messiah (Pariah?). The music ranges from familiar acoustic folk to raw, aggressive blasts of surrealistic imagery. Some of his best prose is evident in songs like "Like a Rolling Stone", "Ballad of a Thin Man" and "Desolation Row".

This is a rare original issue with the "360 Sound stereo 2-eye" (in black/white type) label. The matrix numbers in the dead-wax in the run-off are 1B/1C. It has the alternate version of "From a Buick 6" that starts with the harmonica break. It also has the "Like a Rolling Stone" promotional sticker on the front.
Condition-wise, it has light noise throughout "Like a Rolling Stone" and the first half of "Queen Jane Approximately". Otherwise any noise is most obvious between the tracks, except for the occasional pop/tick. It's a good solid play copy for a serious Dylan collector.
US Bidders please note: I usually ship via USPS Media mail, but if you prefer Priority or some other delivery option please contact me for a shipping quote.

A NOTE ABOUT GRADING

All records are graded using the 'Goldmine' grading system, applied conservatively. Grading is as follows:

M = MINT. Absolutely perfect in every way - never played. I rarely use this grade.

NM = NEAR MINT. A nearly perfect record. The record should show no obvious signs of wear. The LP jacket should have no creases, folds, seam splits or other signs of use. The same should be true of inserts, lyric sheets, posters, etc.

NM- = NEAR MINT MINUS. This is a grade of my own devising. The record will show signs that it was played, but rarely. Record surfaces may have very light needle trails or very light scuffs, but NO scratches or warps. The LP jacket may have very light wear, but NO cut-out holes, cut corners or saw cuts.

VG+ = VERY GOOD PLUS. The record will show some signs that it was played and otherwise handled by a previous owner(s) who took good care of it. Record surfaces may show slight signs of wear and may have slight scuffs, very light scratches or slight warps that don't significantly affect the listening experience. The LP jacket may have some signs of wear and may be marred by a cut-out hole/cut corner/saw cut.

VG = VERY GOOD. Many of the condition issues found on a VG+ record will be more pronounced on a VG record. Some surface noise will be evident upon playing. Groove wear will start to be noticeable, as will light scratches (deep enough to be felt with a fingernail) that will affect the sound. LP jackets may have writing, tape or stickers/labels/tags. Other signs of wear may also be evident.

VG- = VERY GOOD MINUS. Similar to a VG record, but with more obvious condition issues. Surface noise from light scratches or groove wear will be present, but the record will not have skips. LP jackets will have multiple signs of wear. Not collectible, but may serve as a play copy.
