More than just a solid compilation of top songs, Dylan's second volume of greatest hits was actually compiled by the man himself....and he decided to compliment the first 3 sides of well-known originals ("Lay Lady Lay", "A Hard Rain's Gonna Fall", "All Along The Watchtower", etc.) with a fourth side containing new recordings and previously unreleased numbers.
This 2 LP set, released at the end of 1971, includes one previously uncollected new single, "Watching the River Flow" (recorded in september 1971), a superb outtake from the same sessions, "When I Paint My Masterpiece", one rare song from Dylan's April 12, 1963 Town Hall concert, "Tomorrow Is a Long Time", and three new re-recordings (of Basement songs) from those September sessions....."I Shall Be Released", "You Ain't Goin' Nowhere", and "Down in the Flood". * Even today, these tracks are quite tough to track down.
