Bob Dylan’s first single came with a promotional outer sleeve written by Columbia Records National Promotion Manager for Popular Products, Bob Thompson, introducing Dylan to radio programmers. The sleeve text, entitled “Rebel With A Cause” promoted his 2nd album, “The Freewheelin’ Bob Dylan.” This is a bona fide and very scarce Bob Dylan rarity and is almost impossible to find . Label text here is black. Subsequent promo issues of this single featured red text and the more standard 4-42856 catalog number on the label. Original promo issues show only the JZSP number.  [Due to their faster turning speed and wider groove spread, 45 rpm pressings exhibit more detailed playback than LP pressings, which turn slower and feature more compacted groove spread.]
