Blur : Parklife A-01 / B-01 1st Press 1994

This first pressing plays to a very high standard with not very much interference.  The clarity, depth and power of the audio is very impressive overall and the only interference that is intrusive is a couple of scratchy 'swish' sounds on 'Maybe America'.  Apart from that the playback is very clean with only a little static on some intros and fade outs and a small number of light ticks.

The cover is in excellent shape but does have one very small tear on the opening edge, nothing else stands out.  As per the first pressings it has the small round pink sticker in the top right corner.  The lyric inner is in superb condition.

Visual description

This a case of the vinyl playing a lot better than it looks.  There are some hairlines on both sides that you can only see under a bright light and there are a couple of radial lines on S2 that are a little more obvious.  The good news is they have hardly any effect on the audio as described below.  Don't get me wrong this record is by no means in poor condition it's just not as visually stunning as the vast majority that I sell!  The labels are very clean with no marking and not very much spindle wear.

Play grading

The intro on 'Girls And Boys' has only very minimal light static and as the vocal comes in the audio is stunning!  It continues in the same way with no clicks or pops, just a couple of light ticks, the playback is very impressive.  I will grade the intro as Ex and the remainder is Near Mint at the very least.

'Tracy Jacks' has only a little static on the intro and thereafter is nigh on perfect without any interference.  3/4 light ticks maybe but they hardly qualify as interference!  This grades the same as the previous track.  Let's say Near Mint again.

'End Of A Century' has barely any static on the intro and then plays with exceptional quality from then on.  There is no intrusion on the audio and Near Mint is well deserved.

'Parklife' is stunning from start to finish with no interference.  A 90s classic that has to grade as Mint- the clarity and definition of the audio is superb.

'Bank Holiday' plays with great power and depth throughout with no sign of any interference.  Mint-

'Badhead' plays with wonderful clarity and no intrusion.  There is just a touch of very light static during the mid instrumental section but it really is so quiet.  The rest of the track plays perfectly.  I will say Near Mint but the vast majority is better than that.

'The Debt Collector' has a handful of light static ticks on the intro and then plays with high end audio and only 3/4 minor background ticks that hardly warrant a mention.  So an Ex intro and then Near Mint from then onwards.

The intro on 'Far Out' has very little static and as the vocal begins the audio cannot be faulted.  It continues to play with great clarity for a final track and there is no interference.  Near Mint

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The intro on 'To The End' has a little static but there is barely any by the time Albarn's opening vocal begins.  It continues to play with very clear audio - the odd very light static tick but so quiet and totally non-intrusive.  Ex+

'London Loves' plays in a very similar way.  A little crackle at the beginning but from then on the clarity is excellent with barely any static.  The end section has some light ticks plus a little crackle on the fade out but overall I think Ex+ is fair.

The intro on 'Trouble In The Message Centre' plays perfectly and the opening 'heavy' section is just as good.  It continues to play with outstanding power and depth with only a couple of mega light ticks that you could easily miss.  A superb Near Mint version at least.

'Clover Over Dover' plays with stunning quality from the intro to the fade out.  There is no 'background' worthy of mention and Near Mint is well deserved.  There is barely any static at the end - one 'swish' sound but by then the track has finished.

'Magic America' has a couple of static 'swish' sounds on the opening vocal which are intrusive but from then onwards the playback is very clean with only one other static tick.  Let's say Near Mint but with a very brief G moment.

'Jubilee' is stunning from the get go!  Every section plays with imperious quality with no sign of any interference.  The power and depth of the audio is 'as new'.  Mint-

The acoustic intro on 'This Is A Low' is very clean with only three light ticks right at the start and it then plays with genuine quality through every verse and chorus.  The Coxon led instrumental section is flawless and the final chorus also plays to perfection.  A stunning version that is Ex for the first 3/4 seconds but is undeniably Mint- from then onwards even on the quiet fade out section.

The instrumental 'Lot 105' ends the album with sublime quality throughout.  Mint

In summary this first pressing plays with superb audio for the vast majority.  There is only minimal interference - a little static on a few intros and fade outs but the only real intrusion are the static 'swish' sounds on 'Maybe America'.  Many tracks do grade as Near Mint / Mint and I am sure the winning bidder will not be disappointed.  Not perfect but a fine listen with very impressive audio overall for a 90s vinyl.

The Cover & Lyric Inner

The cover is in excellent condition with not very much shelf wear.  The top edge is perfect and the bottom edge has only minimal rubbing.  The spine is 100% legible but does have a couple of rubs and is a little compressed in a couple of places as is common.  The corners have only very light wear and the opening edge has just one very small tear.  At first I thought it was a crease but on closer inspection you can see it is a small tear.  The front cover is very clean with only a handful of white 'specks' near the bottom and one small scuff in the centre.  The back cover is in great shape with just a couple of very minor creases and no marking.

The glossy lyric inner is in superb condition with no side splits or marks - just a couple of barely visible corner creases.
