Released relatively early on the summer of 1971, Demon & Eleven Children marked Tokyo acid casbah rockers Blues Creation's first outing with entirely original material, coming squarely at the moment they decided to pivot from Chicago blues homage to fuzz-screechy proto-metal. With an signature Epiphone Riviera electric and home-modified amp rig, they'd tap into a molten, unhinged energy, observing the Sabbath and/or inviting comparisons to a Yardbirds free-for-all. 'Atomic Bombs Away' and 'Brane Baster' pull title inspiration from pro wrestling, while 'Mississippi Mountain Blues' and the woozier 'Sorrow' anchor the record in more recognisable blues tropes. Recorded in a burst just before their Carmen Maki collab, Takeda now calls the record "so innocent" it makes him wince - but we have to disagree.
