Description

For bid is a 4-Disk 78rpm Album "Blues By Basie" by Count Basie from Columbia Records Set C-101. Backed by His All American Rhythm Section: Jo Jones, drums; Freddie Green, guitar; Walter Page, bass. And featuring the talents of Buck Clayton, trumpet; Don Byas, tenor sax. Songs include "Sugar Blues" with "Bugle Blues", "Royal Garden Blues" with "How Long Blues", "St. Louis Blues" with "Cafe Society Blues" and "Farewell Blues" with "Way Back Blues". #s 36709-12. Includes liner notes on inside front cover and, of course, the classic iconic cover by the great Alex Steinweiss, "the inventor of the album cover".

Item is in Very Good+ condition. All disks are used but clean. All look great except "How Long Blues" has a small chip on the edge, which DOES NOT reach the playing surface. Cover has very little surface and edge wear. Spine is splitting on top (see scan) and another one inch split on lower back cover. Overall, item has some light soiling but is still a classic!

I have no 78 player so cannot speak of the sound quality, but as I stated, records look used but clean.

Please ask questions and Thanks for looking!
