Description
Up for auction is an original first pressing of the Blue Mitchell album "Bring It Home To Me" released on Blue Note Records (BST 84228) in 1966. Labels read New York USA. "Van Gelder" stamped in the dead wax. No ears, and no copies of this record ever had them. This record is significant in Blue Note history in that it was the first release issued after Blue Note was bought out by Liberty Records. Thus the Liberty Records copyright on the cover, along with the first Liberty paper inner sleeve. This is an original stereo recording, not a mono remixed for stereo. The cover is in great shape, with very few signs of wear. No ring wear, no writing, no seam splits. Corner sharp with only a small amount of rubbing on the lower two. Back cover is generally nice and clean, bone white, no distracting writing or ring wear. One discoloration spot at bottom middle. Bottom left corner slightly chipped. I'd grade this cover Near Mint Minus (NM-)/EX+. Very attractive example. The vinyl is in nice shape, retaining much of its original shine. A few very superficial scuffs and hairlines on both sides, but not feelable. I've play tested this record, and overall it sounds very nice. Side One starts out with some mild but noticeable surface noise, but by half way through the song, it fades away. The rest of the album plays very cleanly with only occasional background noises that never overwhelm the music, even in the quiet passages. Not a Near Mint or audiophile copy, this record is a nice player in very nice shape. I'd grade the vinyl EX-VG+ for the first side, and EX for the rest of the LP.
