This record is in FANTASTIC EXCELLENT PLUS/NEAR MINT condition! [cover looks excellent. the front shows just a tiny bit of light wear in a couple od small spots. The back cover is perfect with a tiny rubber stamp mark. the spine printing is neat and well-centered. seam split 5-inches on top. The vinyl shines and sparkles like a brand new record with some light paper and surface scuffs!] This record PLAYS EXCELLENT with some occasional light background surface noise that does not detract from the enjoyment of this intimate recording! She is accompanied here by the legendary guitarist KENNY BURRELL, plus RAY BROWN, BOBBY JASPAR and ED THIGPEN! This record is perfect for BOP JAZZ COLLECTORS!
ARTIST BIOGRAPHY: A distinctive, girlish voice, warm, crisp, impeccable delivery, and an irrepressible sense of playful swing made BLOSSOM DEARIE one of the most enjoyable singers of the Jazz era. Her reputation was made with a string of excellent albums for Verve during the '50s. Actually born with the name BLOSSOM DEARIE, she moved to New York and appeared with vocal groups The Blue Flames (Woody Herman) and The Blue Reys (Alvino Rey). She moved to Paris in 1952 to form the Blue Stars of France. DEARIE also appeared in a nightclub act with Annie Ross, and made a short, uncredited appearance on King Pleasure's vocalese classic, "Moody's Mood for Love." After hearing Dearie perform in Paris in 1956, Norman Granz signed her to Verve and she returned to America by the end of the year.
