Aus Sammlungsauflösung: This split 7" by Illinois masters of the macabre Impetigo and Germany's grind-core death dealers Blood is a perfect match . The songs contained on this short but classic e.p. are nothing short of amazing . The fact that these two bands released this gem of an album together at this point in time should tell any fan of either band exactly what the listener will be treated to on here . Impetigo were at the peak of their creativity in 1991 and Blood had just barely left their early tongue-in-cheek noise-core beginnings for much more serious and brutal grounds . This album documents both periods perfectly . The Impetigo side contains an earlier recording of the titanic powerhouse Boneyard and the rare classic Cannibal Apocalypse . This version of Boneyard differs slightly than the version on Horror of the Zombies both lyrically and production wise . This is a much rawer recording but it still contains that bouncy joyful demented psycho vibe that made this one a classic from the word go . The intro on here is a great fit . In actuality it is my humble opinion that it is an even better one than the band used on the Horror of the Zombies album . The guitar sound is raw and played with the absolute utmost horrifying conviction that this great band is well known for . It is not as "fat" or bottom heavy sounding as on later Impetigo releases but it still contains an evil raw tone that works extremely well on this . Dan's drumming is nothing short of amazing as well and honestly when wasn't he on Impetigo releases ? The slower parts have a psychotic driving feeling to them as the faster grinding parts just melt your face off with machine gun like precision . Stevo's vocals as on most Impetigo releases are the real gem on this though . He on this, as well as countless other Impetigo releases portrays that just-broke-out-of-an-insane-asylum feeling that only a true maniac of his magnitude could pull off . Simply perfect feel and total commitment to the subject matter contained within these songs makes this album a long forgotten classic . The real bonus on this is that Cannibal Apocalypse was only available on this very limited e.p. . This is just as great as all the other classics this band infected its fans with over the years and unfortunately still remains an obscure release to this day . Stevo's voice shines on this like no other . He has you believing he is one of the cannibal's infected with the killer strain of mutant rabies that this great song is all about . The band has always seemed to be insanely ferocious on this and filled with some sort of enraging mutation that makes this song so believable . It is undeniably a masterful release and should be held in the highest regard by any fan of this band, both new and old . The Blood side believe it or not is just as an amazing effort as the Impetigo, just in different ways . Not because this is obviously a different band but because it can and does hold its own against anything that was on the other side no matter how amazing . This release contains some of the greatest songs this band has ever put together: period . The guitar sound is down tuned and heavy as hell . It has a dirty bass driven feel and keeps the music's guttural vibe flowing naturally and effortlessly . Speaking of effortlessness the drums on this are just insane . I have been a fan of this band since their demo days but this is one hell of a change from that point in the history of Blood . The drums are higher in the mix on this release than on previous ones and that is exactly how they should be . The beats are so catchy and full of uniqueness that they almost contain a show-off quality to them . The mid paced parts of the song structures are just incredible . They are like grim evil death marches that almost dares you to not bang your head or dive off of a P.A. system (or a couch for that matter) . The grinding noisy maniacal formula that this great band is known for is almost toned down on here . It keeps that perfect groove and feel of the body work flowing although it is still existent in parts because Blood is a grind band after all . The vocals are disgustingly deep and convincing and add a grittiness and dark feel to the whole album . There is also a doom and gloom feel contained here that will seem a bit surprising to the casual listener of this band but it all comes together so well it's almost inconceivable . Blood have over the years become such an amazing evil band that it almost makes their earliest efforts seem obsolete . This entire album is so enjoyable it challenges you to not listen to it at least twice in a row as it is a short one (10:35 to be exact) . An amazing output by two amazing bands at a perfect time in history when bands like these were the norm not the exception . This one will have you strolling through the bone-yard screaming blood blood blooooooood..... Find this . Natürlich mit Außenschutzhülle und Innenschutzhülle!!!
