This first pressing plays to the highest standard possible with no intrusion of any kind. Oh just one extremely quiet tick on S2 but nothing else! This is a very underrated album in my opinion and the clarity, depth and power of the audio is incredible, it just could not play with any greater precision. You will not be surprised to hear that the vinyl is visually stunning and it has clearly has hardly been played in its lifetime. This came as part of a collection I purchased a short while ago and the previous owner explained to me just how well he looked after them! This is a FINAL UPGRADE archive classic I have no hesitation in saying.
The cover is in excellent condition with only minimal wear, it is very clean and the front is very impressive. It does have x2147 written on the back but it doesn't detract from the overall look. It has retained its original shape and structure and the original inner sleeve is in great condition also.

Visual description
The vinyl is in lovely condition and still has a stunning glossy sheen with no marks or scratches. Under a strong bright light I can only see a handful of very faint hairlines and there is nothing that stands out. There is no groove or surface wear, no 'bag rash' and the Chrysalis labels are basically perfect. Just one tiny spindle trace on S1 and nothing on S2.
Play Grading
The intro on 'Drive Me' is perfect and Abraham's opening vocal section has no intrusion either. It's a 'busy' track and yet sonically it is as strong as ever and the mid instrumental is a fine example of that, every note is so sharp and precise. It plays with great power and depth throughout and the closing vocal / fade out have no background - this is easily a Mint start to this first pressing.
'Variations On Nainos' plays to the same high end standard with not so much as a dust tick or static sound. The clarity is as clean and 'fresh' as the day it was first pressed and Mint is again deserved.
'See My Way' is in my opinion the strongest track on the album thus far and the intro and opening vocal are 'as new'. The first powerful section is so strong and clear and it continues in exactly the same way. A more straightforward rock number it plays with stunning precision and with zero intrusion. The mid instrumental is outstanding - the clarity and depth of the audio is again first class, superb musicianship and it drives along with such a dynamic quality. I had to play it twice it is so good! Berg's drums and Pyle's bass drive it along superbly. The final vocal section and instrumental close the track with supreme quality and from start to finish it could not play any better, it is STUNNING! Mint all the way.
The acoustic 'Long Bomb Blues' plays with sublime quality and no interference. A handful of barely audible statics and you only 'notice' them if you are listening intently. Easily Mint-
The very powerful and dynamic 'The Squirreling Must Go On' is STUNNING! The sonic quality is stunning and again Pyle's deep bass sound drives it along at a furious pace. It is so high in the mix and there is no 'muddiness' to the sound and no distortion either. I cannot overstate just how strong this version is and Abraham's guitar work is superb also. The slightly quieter section towards the end has no background and the final track is as good to everything that preceded it! This is a phenomenal instrumental and for a final track on an album that is now 55 years old is a genuine rarity. Even the fade out plays to perfection. The definitive Mint version. Wow! Seriously some of the best bass work I have ever heard!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
'San Francisco Sketches' begins with 'Beach Scape', a quiet instrumental, and it plays beautifully without any background. A Mint start. 'Fisherman's Wharf' is again flawless and that includes the quiet end section. Mint again. The melodic opening vocal on 'Telegraph Hill' plays with wonderful clarity and as it builds the playback is stunning. The sax solo at the end is perfect and this section has to be graded as Mint also. 'Close The Door...' has just one super quiet tick on the intro and then plays with impeccable quality from then on. A little Colosseum 'like' it could be said and the sonic quality is superb. The audio is so clean and powerful and Mint- is fair here. A stunning track overall.
'Worry' keeps up the good work and plays with real power and depth through every section. I cannot fault it and has to be graded as Mint. Not to labour a point but the clarity and power of the audio is superb and there is literally no intrusion.
Slowing the pace 'Toys' plays with exceptional clarity and warmth from the first note to the last. It shows their versatility and again there are no ticks, clicks, pops or static. Impressive for a relatively quiet number! I will grade a track as Mint if there is no background at all and here there is no background! Mint
The percussive reggae track 'To Rassman' plays so clearly with no intrusion and just to confirm the clarity of sound the fade out plays perfectly with zero background. Mint
'Send Your Son To Die' ends the album with superlative audio once more. From the outset it plays with great power and definition and it proceeds in the same way. The mid instrumental section is so strong, superb work from Abrahams, and again the clarity of sound on this 'busy' number could not be bettered. The final vocal / instrumental has no interference / distortion and again Mint is deserved. I mean what a STUNNING album!
The Gatefold & Inner Sleeve
The cover is in superb condition with hardly any shelf wear and what there is is so minimal. The edges have very little rubbing and the spine remains strong and clean with just one small rub in the centre of the title. All corners are very clean with only very minimal wear and the opening edge is near perfect. The front cover is very clean when you consider a lot of it is white in colour and yet there is no obvious marking and only minimal fading near the bottom edge. The right hand edge just has light rubbing here and there, nothing excessive. The back cover has a little ringwear causing a some white surface rub in a couple of places and also has X2147 written in the top corner for some reason. The inside of the gatefold is in fantastic condition with no marking etc. A very strong example overall.
The original Plastic Bags... inner sleeve (dated 0370) is in great condition with no marking as such apart from x2147 written in one corner again. Some creasing also but mainly on a couple of corners.

I will only send items items worldwide via tracked shipping. This provides 'peace of mind' in case of loss or damage. The shipping costs are shown below and combined shipping is always offered. Any over-payment will always be refunded.
The Royal Mail only insure up to a value of £250 so if an item sells for more it may be wise to use a courier service (e.g. Parcelforce or DPD). An extra insurance premium will be required but I will not know the exact amount until the final sale price is known. Because of this I will sometimes have to estimate the cost and this will be shown in the listing. Please wait for the invoice before making payment and if you have any questions please feel free to ask. Many thanks.
All vinyls are packaged in strong over-sized custom made mailers with plenty of extra cardboard protection. They are placed inside separate poly-lined inners outside the cover so as to avoid seam splits in transit and then placed inside a PVC sleeve to provide even more protection. I pride myself on my high quality packaging as my feed confirms and if any customer has any specific requirements I am more than happy to help.
The mailers I use cost £1.00 each and I will use anything between 3-5 cardboard stiffeners which cost approx £0.18 each. There is also the cost of the poly-lined inner and PVC sleeve to consider, it all adds up! Not forgetting that eBay take 10% of the shipping fee also!!
