SETTLE IN FOR A LONG RUN OF COLLECTABLE LPs OF VARIOUS MUSICAL STYLES!! This is a reasonably priced mid-1960s thick rigid vinyl deep groove pressing of the 1957 Folkways Records LP titled 'Blind Willie Johnson - His Story In Louisiana And Texas', a collection of remembrances, interviews, and eight recordings dating from between 1927 and 1930 featuring the slide guitar wizardry of gospel blues pioneer Blind Willie Johnson, compiled, annotated, and edited by Samuel B. Charters. It is Folkways Records catalog number FG 3585, blue Folkways Records labels. The package also includes an 8-page insert written by Samuel B. Charters with background information on Blind Willie Johnson and the songs heard. Record comes packaged in a thick cardboard album cover, in the usual Folkways Records style with an oversized front cover slick extending to the back cover over a textured paper cover. Cover is divided inside by a thin cardboard insert, behind which the included insert is found. Side One contains interviews and remembrances of Blind Willie Johnson by Elder Dave Ross, Adam Booker, and Angeline Johnson recorded in 1954 and 1955. Side Two contains the following Blind Willie Johnson recordings: If I Had My Way I'd Tear That Building Down, Nobody's Fault But Mine, Jesus Is Coming Soon, Mother's Children Have A Hard Time, Dark Was The Night Cold Was The Ground, Match Box Blues, It's A Good Little Thing, Little Woman You're So Sweet. Visual condition of record is a high VG+ with all original gloss and a few light surface marks, none of which can be felt and none of which affect play. Condition of 8-page insert is VG+ with a little writing, a few slight wrinkles, and some slight signs of use. Condition of cover is a high VG+ with a little contact wear and some wear along the edges and on the corners. There are no splits, tears, writing, or stickers. This scarce vintage classic gem would be an essential choice addition to any blues record collection!
