Black Sabbath : Heaven And Hell A1/B1 1st press

This first pressing plays to a superb standard with no clicks or pops and hardly any static.  The vast majority is Mint such is the sonic quality on offer here.  The vinyl is visually stunning - hard to believe it's over 40 years of age now!

The cover is in excellent condition with only a little shelf wear and the inner has just the one side split.

Visual grading

The vinyl is in superb condition and still has a lovely glossy sheen.  There are no marks or scratches and only a very small number of barely visible hairlines.  The run out grooves are very clean and the Vertigo labels have no marking or writing and only very minimal spindle wear.

Play grading

This is another album that does not need a detailed description for every track.  'Neon Knights' rocks out good and proper with stunning clarity, power and depth and 'as new' is an honest assessment of the audio.  'Children Of The Sea' also plays to a sublime standard and for once has barely any static on the acoustic intro.  The two other tracks 'Lady Evil' and 'Heaven And Hell' both play with a sonic quality that is as good as it would have been back in 1980.  There is perhaps just a minimal touch of inner groove on the final 'loud' section but it is very minor and just a touch of light static on the acoustic ending.

'Wishing Well' on S2 could not play with any greater precision and then the quiet intro on 'Die Young' is very impressive with no clicks or pops and only minimal static - very minimal in fact!  It then plays without fault for the remainder.  'Walk Away' and 'Lonely Is The Word' end the album with stunning precision and power and...no interference.  The depth and warmth of the audio on both sides is so good and that is no doubt helped by the better production on this album.  So much better than the preceding two albums!

The Cover & Inner

The cover is in excellent condition with only a minimal shelf wear.  The edges and spine are super clean with no 'rubbing' and only the bottom right corner has a little wear.  The opening edge is near perfect with only a couple of minor crimps.  The front cover is very clean with only a light crease near the top and a few faint scratch lines that you can only see when you hold it at a certain angle.  The back cover is in lovely condition with just one faint mark and a couple of tiny specks.  In great order though when you consider how 'white' it is.

The original poly-lined 'Plastic Bags...' inner has one side split but is otherwise in excellent condition with barely any creasing and only minimal age related fading near the top edge.

Play tested on my Pro-Ject Essential III Turntable / B&W 684 Speakers
