Description
For all the hype that surrounded the Douglass High School BLACK OUT '70 LP, the followup BLACK EXPERIENCE from 1971 is really a more interesting album. BLACK OUT may have had a better cover image, but BLACK EXPERIENCE , as well as having a host of great young talented funk and soul acts, has...the immortal CARL WOODS....a JIMI HENDRIX clone riffing some "Machine gun" guitar noise with acid drenched vocal overdubs to boot. Still, the highlight for most will be the outstanding young soul groups such as The Romestics, The Anatics, and The Malistics.
This is a double record, although you will most likely want to ignore the 1st record, as it showcases your typical choir and gospel standards. The 2nd record (side 3/4) is where the action is. Completely dedicated to the Douglass High School Talent show of 1971. Its really amazing how much talent came out of the NE side of Oklahoma City.
Both Records grade as NEAR MINT , one side of the choir record has a couple of inaudible marks, but overall I would guess these records might have been played once.
The condition of the cover is a very strong VG+. ( a small seam split on the bottom, and just some mild shelf wear) it could probably pass for vg++, I'm just being conservative.
This record is extremely rare, I know of 4 copies that have existed. Here is the perfect Xmas present for the Funk & Soul collector who thinks he has everything.
EBAY has just banned links to websites, but if you would like to hear a sample from this album, just go to YouTube and search for "Black Experience LP"
