Description
Decca Records album set No. A-550 is "Merry Christmas" featuring Bing Crosby. It is dated 1945 and contains four 10-inch 78 RPM records, namely:
Decca # 23777 -- "Silent Night" and "Adeste Fideles" by Bing Crosby
Decca # 23778 -- "White Christmas" and "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen" by Bing Crosby
Decca # 23779 -- "I'll Be Home for Christmas" and "Faith of Our Fathers" by Bing Crosby
Decca # 23281 -- "Jingle Bells" and "Santa Claus Is Coming to Town" by Bing Crosby and the Andrews Sisters.
In terms of condition, all four records are still beautifully shiny, but with a few scuffs and scratches and needle digs. I played all four on my Audio-Technica turntable, and there were no skips or jumps, and very little in the way of general background hiss, but some scattered clicks and pops and short passages of ticking or swishing. Because of variations in tracking ability, filtering devices and needle weights, I can offer no guarantees as to how well they will play on your equipment.
The album itself is in falling apart condition, with the pocket seams intact, but a total split at the front hinge of the spine, which has left the back cover totally detached, and the front cover almost ready to follow suit. I believe it is repairable, but that's above my pay grade, so I'll leave it up to you.
