Description
Heads up, all doo wop, Billy Ward & The Dominoes and Jackie Wilson fans on this extremely rare 78 rpm by Ward and His Dominoes. "St. Therese of The Roses" is performed here by the only and only Mr. Excitement, Jackie Wilson, then in the mid-50s, a rising star and featured artist within Ward's group, The Dominoes. Wilson's signature voice is clearly a delight here, soaring high above the orchestra and additional studio background singers. Too hot a star to be kept under wraps by Ward, performances like this led Wilson to leave the group for his legendary solo career---ironically enough on Decca's subsidiary, Brunswick Records, the same label that gave the world another legend, Buddy Holly. "St. Therese of The Roses" is Jackie Wilson at his very best, this rare 78 rpm pressing is a must-have record to both enjoy and compliment your collection.
From 1954... Recorded on the DECCA Record label. The record # is: 29933 and features the hit song "St. Therese Of The Roses" on Side a.) and "Home Is Where You Hang Your Heart" on side b). The record is in very nice condition... wonderful! I would grade this at VG++ to Near Mint Condition (visually & play graded). There are no heavy scratches, heavy marking or heavy graying areas. It still maintains a nice high gloss finish. The labels are in very nice condition, with no writing or any heavy wear. I have just made a major purchase of ultra rare rock, jazz & blues albums! They were from Radio Station Promotion Manager Lester "Len" Miller and are from his personal collection.
